I am not sure why people who can afford cars like these are worried about the cops and getting pulled over so much. I thought the red necks were that type. I guess the yuppies have problems with the law to.

I have also noticed many of these "high class" people on the forums that seem to be so arrogant and full of themselves it makes me sick. I bought this car because I love it and have always wanted one. The community comes with the car and 99% of the p-car owners I have met are stand up people. Then you get the high and mighty people like dtmarsh that make me want to sell the stupid car and forget all about this so called community.

I have seen so many how do you get out of a ticket, dui, cop problem threads it really makes me think if I have the right car...

Let me tell you a real story about a kid who got thrown in jail...

My nephew has a friend whose name is Billy. Billy and my nephew pulled up to a stoplight in 2005. They were next to another guy in a car... They didn't know him, and there was no conversation. Both cars accelerated when the light changed... Neither person knew of a "RACE". Both were well aware of "how" people street race... A cop writing a parking violation "witnessed" them pull off excessively and "assumed" that there was a "RACE"... Billy ended up going to "JAIL" and getting his car "TOWED"... Billy was working for me at the time doing come construction on my previous home... Quite the "imposition" on both of us, me less than him, but the project was postoned.

My nephew, who simply can not lie to me, was floored, astonished and shocked that they would be detained on the side of the road and his friend arrested for something that clearly was not as they were accused of...

In the end, Billy lost his license for "racing"...He spent two days in jail while they sorted bail, and then when he went to court he was put on probation for 12 months and lost his license for 6 months... And oh yea, Billy was driving a Chevy Celebrity. We're not talking a sports car, or anything remotely "sport-E". The kid simply ran into the wrong cop. His car wasn't LOUD, or the example of anything "FAST or FURIOUS".

People get arrested every day. Most of them should. Some of them are innocent, dumb and clueless... Billy was the later. Which do you prefer to be? Educated and aware, dumb and clueless, or guilty?

I'm a business owner and have a lot at stake with my clients. I don't need some jackass with a chip on his shoulder over the car I'm in pulling me over and "Creating" problems for me... If that makes me a REDNECK or Arrogant, then you're right... You own the wrong car... Please, divest yourself of said vehicle and go on your merry way...

We have R-I-G-H-T-S in this country... Some of us have risked our lives to make sure that the rest still have them... Evidence of that is this very holiday that all those living in this fine country just enjoyed today...

If the fact that I choose not to lay down like a $50 ***** and allow some cop to have his way with me, some how makes your opinion of me any less, then too F'n BAD... Sorry, but I've been ON THAT SIDE of the badge, and I KNOW how things can go wrong... I've SEEN innicent people thrown in jail over fabricated evidence.

Keep living your fairytail dream, but please, don't pass your judgements on those of us who live in the real world where shades of grey make life a bit harder for everyone living in it...

gee this brings to mind a story when iwas 18 or 19 . i was stopped early in the am by a santa cruz cop , twas driving a 60 buick candy apple gold ans fairly fast for it day, the cop told me to open my trunk and he found a bag of sand(to keep the car low in the back) he gave me a hard time and let me go with a ticket as i remember. i went home complanded to my dad who was a city father and a grand jury member. the next day the cheif of police came to our house with the officer to apoligize for his actions. can't remember what really happened but i do remember the cop said if i had stopped your dad i would have done the same thing again needles to say the cop was soon out of a job.. their are good cops and bad cops it is what it is. ps. i was not arrested for having a sand bag in my trunk only given a very hard time by this cop. i'll never carry sand again honest............

 

Definitely not Kansas, but not Miami Vice either. How many times have you been pulled over and your car searched, Mike? I have been pulled over 10-15 times in my life and never had a search. Only problem I had was a cop gave me a hard time about my radar detector in Indianapolis. I went to court and case dismissed...

 

Eh, my fave was a reckless driving ticket I was given. I was 16 and had pissed the cop off and he had been looking for me. He had knocked on my door saying that a neighbor had complained about my driving too fast - I knew about the neighbor and was ALWAYS right on the speed limitas I drove past. When the cop tried to give me grief at my door I told him in no uncertain terms that I wasn't speeding and to have a nice day - ah how niave' I was! I was pulled over leaving a parking lot, I had parked with my front wheels in water, shifted into first while reversing out - still rolling - and the tires had broken traction. The cop stated, in open court, that the tires of my car were spinning so wildly that the back end of my car was fishtailing side to side endangering pedestrians in the parking lot. He stated that I was doing this at a high rate of speed.

The car was a Chevy Citation and I pointed out that it was FRONT WHEEL DRIVE to the judge to no effect.

This was my indoctrination into the world of law enforcement as a 16 year old. Since then I have had two other instances, one nearly as bad, where I have had to defend myself. This isn't about getting out of a DUI or avoiding radar - this is about our rights as citizens not to be searched without cause. Yes, this means that some guilty will get away but that is as intended by our forefathers. Better that some get away than some innocent end up wronged - you see how well that has worked out though right?
