If your Porsche breaks down...

In August my brother-in-law's Porsche broke down in NYC on the Saw Mill River Parkway, at night, in a down pour which flodded the roads. He was returning from Tanglewood where he performed. I was called and asked to help since he had his $3 million dollar Stradivarius with him and had to catch a red eye to London.
Even though his car was no longer covered under the Porsche roadside assistance, the Porsche people were very helpful and located the number for the nearest police station. Since in NYC tow operators won't tow unless a person is with the car, and this was not possible, they will tow if the police ask. The police were very helpful and had the car towed, properly, to the impound yard. I offer this advice in case any of you ever have this problem.
Thanks to Darren for info on service persons in NYC. Yea, that was me Darren.

He was featured in the Feb/March issue of Christophorous. I knew there weren't too many Strad playing violinists living in NYC who drive Porsches!

Hi violin959,

Kurt Sassmannshaus used our dwelling for a small benifit to support his Starling Chamber Orchestra a few years back. His young musicians performed for the assembled throng.

He brought a Strad or two and a couple of other master's violins with him for his prodigies to play. He laid them out on our dining room table for all to see. He even let my kids pick them up to see how they felt in-hand. I almost passed out when he said the collection before us was worth around $3-4 million. He didn't seem very concerned for their security.

Signal Yellow is Porsche color #114 from the late '60s through the early '70s. My car(s) in the sig were paint-to-sample to the old factory color.

Here's somebody else's Signal Yellow car:

Color # 114 was quite popular for 911S and RS cars of the day.

Another Signal Yellow RS:
