Speedtech 70mm vs Speedtech cross flow

Can anyone tell me how Speedtech's 70mm exhaust compares with their X-cellerator cross flow system? Sound and performance wise?

Hi Scott,

The cross-flow system has been in the development stage for a few months and is finally about to be released. The first production version mufflers are being produced this week and I have included a picture of one of the first mufflers after polishing, so that you can get an idea of the finished look and quality.

Here you go, take a look at these updated muffler and tip pictures...

That sure is pretty. I have your 70mm with rings right now. I love it to death, but it is a bit to loud for my wife. How does this compare in the decibel department, with cats and mufflers?

Thanks, Tom

Thanks, Webtool!

Tom, It is 76mm /3", but quieter than even the 60mm conventional design.

Also, the sound is altogether different - kind of hard to explain. I would say it's more of an exotic car type of sound and overall more pleasing - it reminds me of the GT3 sound and I feel it is similar to the GT3 sound in many ways.

I have not done a decibal test, but it is without a doubt, much quieter than either of our conventional systems. My wife, like your's, did not care for the 70mm sound either, but the cross-flow does not bother her at all. She actually says she likes it! In fact everyone that has heard it likes it a lot, as do I. I had to take it off my car for jigging and missed it immediately. I think it's a fantastic sounding system.

Awesome

John, The crossflow looks great. I didn't think I'd like the large, single round outlet, but it definitely sets this exhaust apart from others.

John,

Is this system quieter than your 60mm quiet at 76mm?
Yes, it is quieter than our 60mm conventional exhaust and the lower sound level is immediately noticeable upon start-up. The first time I started the car with this system, I was expecting a lot more sound with the 3" pipes, but it was just not there - we were all very surprised. Then on the initial drives, I almost felt like I had to strain to hear it compared to the 70mm. That said, the sound is really nice and has plenty of volume for a really nice, sport sound. It sounds fantastic at WOT, kind of like a GT3 at WOT.

Thanks, Patrick. We spent a lot of time in this area and tried a several tip styles, finally settling on these for looks and sound...

I like the look of the larger single round tip, too. I think it gives a purposeful look, without being over the top.

Thanks, Marty!

I can't believe you would even consider another exhaust after all the systems you have tried Like you said, you have installed more systems than I have and I now routinely remove and re-install them for testing.
