Congrats! I predicted the alpha car because he has a fuel system. Its quite an accomplishment to beat him with a 5 bar. You must also be a good driver!

While I am not totally surprised at the outcome, this is not a comparison between turbos it has actually become a comparison between Tip and 6 speed. I've seen both 18G's and GT28's on the dyno. The alphas do spool WAYYY sooner than 18G's. I think they are probably equal up top although on paper it seems the GT28's should make more power. The REAL comparison should be between a 6 speed alpha car and a 6 speed 18G with same mods and same boost, obviously. We had such a comparison scheduled for last night at the track, but someone didn't show up...

Its not like i beat him since we were even and at high speeds we all know a 6 speed car will pull away from a slush box.

But yes i was intially surprised too...but a closer look at HP numbers are pretty much the same.due to dyno variances, he definitely got about 30-40lbft more TQ, but the tiptronic shifting just sucks and the 6 speed car negates the extra TQ he has.

Even better would be k24/20G vs GT28 , since they both flow 45 lb/min. That would be the most fair and interesting, The 20g is much cheaper to do than a GT28..after 4000 rpms do you really think fast spool helps?

admit it you had NOS, I agree that this is more of a trans comparison than anything else. and frankly I didn't think a tip would be that bad.

24/18gs are great!

PS. my torque converter was broken by 16/24, way before I upgraded to 24/18g

I have to say that the result will be a little different if tip one upgrades his torque converter. According to my own experience, upgrade converter can shift faster and firmer.

I agree, not knocking on GT28 here. I just think GT28 on a 6 speed car should make more power and it has proven with some dynos here.

i would like to see TTboost run Cossey...instead of cossey running modded z06's.

Maybe true, But the power made to wheels wont change will it? But agree his shifts might get more faster...but i thought a Tip can shift faster than a 6 speed ..My point is a good 6 speed driver should take a tip car...now if its a DSG...its a different story.

The tip car also shifts at 6500 rpms and my car shifts at 7000 rpms, so i think a TCU remap is also needed to go faster and hold power.

it will if the converter can't handle the power and the new one can. Still more loss through an auto, though.

Yes, whp is whp. The Tip car will have to make more crank hp to have the same hp as a stick car though...

Interesting, my tranny shifts at 6750-6800.
