decklid fan spinning wrong way now
had GT2 decklid installed, new wire came with it from mashaw, but now the fan is spinning the wrong way( its blowing the air up and out) before the factory set up was pulling air into the decklid... anyone have an easy fix for this?
thanks

mine pulled air in and was a stock decklid.... a few other members noted after switching deck lid their fan blows out now also.. I just dont know if there is a right and wrong way

it is possible the new wiring has opposite polarity on the plugs and spins the motor the opposite way...only hooking it back up with your old wiring will tell for sure

The deck lip fan on all 996 Turbos is designed to pull ait through the deck lid, blow it over the engine, and exit below the engine compartment.
The Boxster is also designed the same way...air being pulled in through the right side intake by the engine compartment fan and then blown over the engine...exiting below the engine compartment.
Although Porsche may have had a complete turn around with the GT3, my guess is that in OEM form, the GT3 (and GT2) fan would also blow air over the engine.

no, you are quite incorrect about the GT3 anyway...my rear decklid is completely oem and has always blown air out of the engine compartment...and it is only used when the compartment gets hot...I usually only hear it at a track event when I come in after a session and shut off the motor the fan will come on and you can feel the hot air coming out of the top of the engine cover...

Dock is correct for the TT...it is designed to pull air from the top and push it out the bottom. If yours does not work in this direction you could (likely will) throw codes eventually. Just reverse the polarity of the wiring should fix it.

just compared my new wire to the fan colors to my old (stock) wire... its a 2 wire feed and stock has a black wire on top with brown below it.. my new aftermarket wire has it with the brown on top black below it.. guess i just have to cut and spllce

Cut and splice. I did that with my MA Shaw harness.
Works fine now. Before I did the splice, I got a warning message day 1 of the harness uncorrected saying something like the fan was failing....heat was too high in the engine bay. Once I fixed things, I have not had the message again.
To be clear:
stock decklid: air was pulled in, no issues
new lid w/ big wing from sambott, stock MA shaw harness (very high, OEM quality mind you)): air was blown out, warning messages
new lid, spliced harness wires: air is now pulled in, no issues

Same here - it went off today and I checked. It sucked air into the engine bay. It's an '02 and OEM - never swapped out.
