I think it's the ring...but I bet they are overdoing it. The only thing this machine can't recreate are the G-forces on the car and how much of an affect it has on the oiling.

Isn't that their new rig testing the "integrated dry sump" for the new turbo?

That's the MKII 997 motor but our turbo's have a better dry sump systems, turbo's & GT"s have an external oil tank.

That is really cool. I would never imagine that they would gimbal a running engine like that.

I don't know, but simply tilting the engine on the gimbal actually does simulate a G force vector in the lateral directions. (ie fore/aft or left right)

There is no need to let the engine slop around in response to the internal engine speeds, etc. The gimbal would duplicate G force loading...

My guess

I'd seen this before, but no text/background on this

true. I guess the violent turning and tilting is indeed simulating the g-forces

I've seen this before also...it's the simulation of the track at the Nuremberg ring....
