seems rational to go with the specs given to you by your mechanic. if KM says 500 miles, you do 500 miles. any "forrest gump" can get on the freeway and head for Portland with cruise control in place. have a nice long drive and fuggedaboutit.

My understanding is that the break-in process for new UMW Zero Clearance turbos is pretty arduous, to properly break in the ZC epoxy (as wells as the turbine seals), that the heat cycles are as important as the miles. So by my understanding, unfortunately that would mean no single 500 miles cruise. I would follow UMW Kevin's instructions to the letter (and he includes with the turbos a letter outlining the details of the installation and break-in procedures).

The turbo is home back in the garage. My mechanic put about 40-50 miles on the car to make sure everything was working properly. I then had a 60 mile ride home. I am doing exactly what Kevin's instructions say. I'm not sure why some of the other 6speeders have a problem with the breakin process. You spend a lot of hard earnoed dough on equipment & you follow the experts advice for years of trouble free fun.
She does sound a little raspier. Downright sexy.

That is great,

My K24/18g's have lasted 14,000 hard miles and still going strong, (no leaks, good boost holding, etc ) with no break-in.

Maybe I can do a write-up for Blouch Turbo as to the "proper break-in" so that they last a good long time
