The speed secret series is an excellent read. Also pick up a few books on chassis dynamics. How to Make your race car handle is a good one!

Again agree with Tom. Don't change a thing on the car, except for maybe a roll bar, and seats, for the next 10-20 track days... always have an instructor, books are great! Take your time. It's not a race. Smooth is key.
