Drove the new C6 vette 132mph Yesterday

Ok - I dont advocate driving like a looney but I had an open highway and needed to test out this car for my friends here at 6speedonline.com ( excuse I need to tell myself )

My friend Ross just moved up to Weston in Florida so I stopped by to say hi and check out a few of his new toys - a cl55 and a c6 vette...

Right next to his house is a highway named "27" .....very reminisent of "27" in the hamptons in New York...tow lanes in each direction with a large grass divided in b/w the two directions......just flat open roads

Needless to say V1 on and no cars in sight for miles - screw it ...floored the sucker through 4th then backed off a bit as I realized this was silly.....the heads up display is great in theory -so damm anoying in reality!

Car is a huge improvememt over the c5...no comparison
Steering felt much better (Still no 911) and the gearbox was really percise and short out of the box......

Brakes were good (Still no 911) and the car felt pretty darn solid for a plastic car!

Anyway for $50k you cant touch this car......for an extra toy I would reccomend this to anyone....

I will be back down in a nfew weeks and he tells me there should be a supercharger - chip and exhaust on this bad boy by then - 700hp ?

This will be one fun test drive to re-visit

I would still much rather have an Elise, Boxster S, SLK 55 AMG or or BMW Z4 Alpina...

The run up I-95 from Key Biscayne was inspirational.

A C6 will spank all those Lil *****es you have listed there. I saw the car in person, looks real nice for 50K, imho

I'm still not sold on it, I definately don't like the glass rough cars, gonna have to see how the Fixed Roof Cars come out.

Not as sexy as the C5 IMO, will probably grow on me.

I'd have a difficult time buying a C6 over an Elise. The Elise's driving experience goes a long way towards overcoming the performance advantage of the C6. The forthcoming C6 Z06 is obviously a different story.

I don't think too many people are cross shopping an Elise and a C6. C6 is far more of an everyday car. The Elise is an engine with two chairs strapped to it.

Depends on how you plan to drive the car, too. Unless you are autocrossing, the C6 would be WAY more comfy. We had two Elise's here and both of the guys driving them say they are among the most uncomfortable cars they have ever been in - but a blast to drive.

I think the SVT Mustang Cobra is the best bang for the buck. (Although I don't think "bang for the buck" has much useful purpose as a measurement criteria).
