trying to reduce exhaust noise/drone
#32
maybe you had an exhaust leak and by changing that out you deleted the problem

Anything is possible but... the sound was drone not a leak type sound if ya know what i mean. It was in the typical rpm range.
The stock headers i removed were in great shape and didn't show any signs of leaking around the gasket area. I didn't change the headers to improve the drone, it just happened that way.

don't remember now, but they were expensive resonators.
yes, when I installed headers drone went down as well. Flow increases, which allows gasses and sound to exit faster reducing drone.

Seriously, has anyone tried this? I think that some of the noise might be coming from the direct metal to metal contact at the strap that turns the entire rear-end of the car into a massive resonator. If you were to isolate it with a softer material like a rubber bushing it should reduce the amplitude somewhat. Anybody? I will take a look this weekend and see what I can come up with.

I have my newer exhaust strapped on with hose clamps which cannot transmit vibes, since it is not a hard connection, this may be part of the reason why my drone is almost all gone. I was able to get away with this, because my exhaust including cats weighs in at 25lbs.

I did take some for another board member. have to locate them. It was really easy. The four existing metal brackets are perfect for securing large hose clamps and going around the two exhaust pipes.

Sign language would work. You just need to learn a few basics like, get me a beer, make me a sammich, give me sex.
