The pay check has to do with how marketable the sport is. F1 has a world wide market. what do IRL or cart guys get payed? And as for who has more skill. Through Schewie into Force's car and lets see how he does. Like wise with force. Two completely different kinds of racing but Major skill required in both to be on top.

 

Yeah...no doubt skill is required for both...but which takes a more complete skill set? None of the IRL or CART guys would hold a candle to Schumacher. Hell, none of the F-1 guys do right now, though Kimi and JPM are closest.

 

da Matta was the Big Dog in the CART series. Doesn't seem to be much of a threat in F1

I bet Schuey would do better in Force's car with a little practice than vice versa. Not a fair comparision though..Bottom line is better athletes are the road racers, especially the open wheelers as they usually pull more g's and race for close to two hours at a time. They are true athletes that can be compared to the Tour de France athletes in terms of fitness and stamina. Drag racers obviously need not be as fit for obvious reasons. Bottom line is any above average drag racer put into Force's car can run sub 6 second 1/4 mile times all day where an average road racer put into Schuey's car wouldn't be close. Anyway enough of this stuff.

Have you ever seen a Funny Car in real life? It goes from 0-330mph in less time than most sports cars go 0-60mph. The car has ran 4.66 and trapped 333mph. I bought a suite for the Autolite Nationals this past summer at Infineon Raceway. These cars are incredible. How someone can drive a car under conditions like that is amazing. TV does it no justice. I would recommend checking it out if you're a auto performance enthusiast. Just watch out for the mullets.

Somehow I doubt an average drag racer could jump into the car and run 5s. Not everyone is into the same thing, but to discredit other peoples work or accomplishments.

Are you coming to the shootout? I want to see some 9s @ 140+ too. I would think that'd be a record.

I would like to see a shootout that included road course times, 1/4 mile times, and 200-300 mile cruise. This would tell you who can make horsepower and keep it together long term.

 

there are a lot of different levels of drag. Holding a funny car straight is a difficult task indeed.

Going 10s in a drag setup domestic is like falling off a log. Automagic tranny, high stall, big tire. floor it on the 2nd yellow.
