I too am considering moving on from an m3 to a 996tt. My m3 always felt razor sharp and ready to go due to the throttle response and the awesome high revving motor. How does the turbo powerband compare? Obviously the turbo has more power, but how is the feel of the motor in comparison? Is the turbo lag and lowered throttle response in comparison to the m3 that big of a deal?

I had an E46 m3, 6-speed manual. I used it as a daily driver any never had any engine or other problems. I year and half ago I sold my M3 and got an 03 996tt. I live in Washington state and use the turbo as my daily driver unless there is 6 inches of snow on the ground. There is no turbo lag unless your lagging the engine. The turbo feels much faster than the M3 and handles much better. I thought the m3 had much more body role. I would never go back to an m3. I have had no maintenence problems with the turbo

No need to mod a GT3 either... it's so wonderful and superbly balanced right out of the box.
Why stop there?!?! Get a GT2... I know I should have

PS Come on man... dish it out, what plans have you got for it

Go beg a nearby 6speeder to let you try one. An honest non-chipped one at first. The turbo power is deceiving because it is sooo smoooth and the engine sound is so insulated. Many first time triers don't realize how fast they're going until they look at the speedo.

The lowered throttle response is someth you'll get used to because you know what's coming later

No, it's not that bad. It's just most people expect to feel a lot more in a 400+ hp car. The response is very decent after ~2800rpm.

I really do not know how you can put both these cars in the same category. M3 is half the price of the TT. I am currently really happy with my M3 vert SMG. It is a lot of fun to drive, but it is not a TT. I am leaning towards a TT as my next car. Nothing else like it for the $$$. But I will still want a 430 or 575. They are all just different levels of cars.

If you get a M3 do not plan on any performance mods getting you anywhere hp wise.

We already have M3s and you're right, the performance mods for this car do nothing unless you go forced induction.

Even with Forced Induction, the performance numbers are disappointing.

The AA S/C pushes the M3 to about 440 HP which isn't too bad. The EVOSport S/C kit pushes around 500 RWHP which is pretty impressive, but it costs around $25K

GL996TT: Why do you say it's harder to sell a TT? Because of the price points?

Because I try to sell my Turbo but no one calls.

Do u want to buy my turbo? send me a PM..

13.1 in the 1/4 mile with the AA Supercharger vs. 13.2 STOCK is hardly impressive.

KJ, from what I know, their SC system was having some issues for that shootout. They'll be taking their SC M3 to the drag strip pretty soon to get some new times. But yes, according to the C&D shootout, not impressive at all.

Even though I have a GT2, I'd still love to have a GT3. Better yet, a Ruf RGT-RS or GT3-RS.

The plans for the GT2. Oh nothing. It will be "stock."

I'll tell you more about it next time I see you
