Fikse Profil 10

The Fikse Profile 10's have 5.5 mm more offset than OEM in the front, and 7mm more in the back. This places the wheels farther out laterally (versus factory). Will this offset cause any handling differences, positive or negative, and would it cause any additional wear on the bearings? Would the alignment settings have to be changed?

Dock,
i don't see this being a problem (wider track actually improves the handling) since most of the aftermarket wheels have different offset than stock wheels.

Dock -- the simple answer is NO to all your questions.

What widths are the wheels you're planning on ordering? You can come very close to stock if you want, but being a bit more aggressive on offset/width will improve looks and handling. Although I don't know if you'll really feel the handling difference, unless you go with the GT2 fitment discussed below.

One option is going with GT2 spec offset and width for the Fikses. Your choice then is whether you want the front wheel (8.5" width) to have an offset of ~38.5 (1.5mm more aggressive) or ~44.5mm (4.5mm less aggressive than GT2 spec). The rear will be 12"et44.5 (about the same as GT2 stock). If you're going stock widths (8" and 11") and you want to maintain closer to stock offset, I believe you can get offsets of ~52(f) and ~44.5 (r)or go more aggressive with the 44.5 (f) and the 38.5mm(r).

Fikses 8"et44.5 and 11"et38.5mm.....

Great information Jack.

Wheel Enhancement said 8"/44.5 and 11"/38 was their suggestion.

WE is a great source -- that's where I got my wheels for the Turbo and GT2. If I were to do it again, I'd at least get 8.5"et44.5mm for the front of the Turbo. I would consider GT2 spec for your Turbo -- it will fit with the GT2 sized tires.

GT2-spec Fikse Profil 10 wheels.....

Will the GT2 spec. wheels be a problem with the AWD, front to back ratio wise?

Yes, my bad.

As for AWD question, the GT2 spec tires (235/315) are actually closer in OD than the factory turbo sizes (225/295). Only .1" difference between front and rear GT2-sized tires, while there is .2" difference for the turbo-sized tires.

Great info.

I'm considering the GT2 sizes now...

I ordered the 8.5 inch Fikse profil 10 for the front and 11.5 for the back. The michelin are the only tires that will fit with no more than .1 difference. Otherwise the differential would be burned. I'll probably have to keep the spacers in the back though since the tires are 12"

Richard

P.S. I dont know how good they'll really look until I get them on though! I've got a silver 996 Turbo so I'm hoping. I didn't want to copy my HRE monoblok on my 997 turbo of the same color either.

I don't think the michelins are the only tires to consider. I have Kumho XS in 235/315 and they are an exact match.

Sorry, i just heard from the sources that those were the only ones I could use on my Fikse 11.5 and 8.5 on my 996 Turbo for keeping the diameter down to .1 so I wouldn't mess with the differential. I could be wrong, or for that matter They could be wrong. I looked on Tire and they suggested quite a few different brands just 10 minutes ago. same numbers though! It's sometimes ridiculous when I figured exactly how long it would take to find the right answer to which tire size too! The guy from Fikse said 315/25 and 225/35 and then another guy from wheel said a different one and finally through two more sources i got the 315/25 and 225/35! That's for the Fikse profil 10 at 11.5 and 8.5 for the 996 Turbo for 19". I had to finally get the original Porsche size of 225/40 and 295/30 for the 18" and finally I got the right numbers. I just didn't want to f up my differential in the front.
