Techart style side skirts

is the TA style side skirts universal for narrow body and wide body? Or there're different versions? I recently purchased a pair of TA skirts and tried to test fit. it turned out didn't fit very well. The upper line won't touch the body of the car. Anyone had experience fitting the skirts?

Hi Edwin, I got it from Tony at PrecisionPorsche =). You guys' bodykits are top quality indeed. I did take the stock oem lower valence off. There's a large gap at the door curve.

I just took mine off for a retrim and new tape to hold them on with.

It takes alot of fine work with a file / and sandpaper to get a perfect fit.

edit: I have no idea who made the ones on my car.

Thank you

OP, don't worry, we will make sure you get everything on in no time. I'm sure it's a simple fix.

EDIT: Just talked to Tony. He sent you the 996 narrow body ones b/c he thought you had a 996.

Tony's great. He's sending me the correct one for TT on Monday. Hope I won't get dinged at the boarder. Guess I'll have to leave my car at bodyshop for another weekend. It's been in there for 2 weekends already, lol

i would urathane it since it's fiberglass... if it was poly, maybe double side tape would work... but the fiberglass sideskirts really need to be urathaned to securely hold them to the body

I agree with angldrkns9, Double sided tape is strong, really strong, but I've seen so many double sided taped side skirts in the import world either have a lot of play and wiggle a lot or fall off completely when they hit super high speeds 120+. Sure it depends on how well they're taped but when you're talking about such a nice car and great pieces, do you really want to leave it to chance? Do it once, do it right.

My shop uses double sided tape but it depends on what type you use. I've used the ones you get from a auto store and after a while, it would lose it's adhesiveness and come loose. We use the 3m heavy duty ones you buy at the paint shop. I've never used urethane before so I can't comment on it

Please elaborate on the use of urethane as an adhesive. I am thinking of getting those side skirts as well. Thanks.

never knew you could use urethane for sideskirts. I guess it makes sense for fiberglass sideskirts. I myself am an avid double side tape user
