click feeling at top of clutch pedal travel

Anyone experience this? It's at the top of the pedal travel and occurs intermittently. Thought it was a lubrication issue but it feels more non-linear than that. With the clutch fully engaged, as I start pressing down, the pedal effort will increase slightly in the first inch of travel and click, then proceed smoothly to fully depressed. I know there's a clutch switch at the top to sense for the fully engaged position, but that wouldn't explain the pedal effort increasing since the switch is pushing it away from itself. There is no click sound actually, just a click feeling. As if you're pressing on a snapple cap.

Any ideas? Much appreciated.

The car has 16k miles on it and is bone stock.

thanks,
H

seriously? I thought that was more of a sudden increase in pedal effort along the entire throw of the clutch.

Ok, thanks Elliot. Will check that out. Did yours ultimately fail shortly after feeling this effect?

Yes it did ..it did not feel smooth sort of clicky and sometimes pedal would have more resistance and grab at different levels.
It is not a very high quality part.

Mine does it too. I think there are some (2?) switches under there and it sounds like it is one of the switches?

did the click sound seemed to be coming from the back or did you feel it under the dash?
