don't get me wrong, I like the idea and would like to do it myself, anytime you can run 1.4-1.5 bar of boost, you are on race file mode.

plus 1...that is a race file (admitedly a very cost effective race file).
Did the car have a fuel system or injectors?

That article is alright, but the car being tested is a non-intercooled car and that makes the test completely invalid when it comes to comparing it to an intercooled car. My brother brought it up and nobody had a good reply to his comments and the thread failed.
Meth will never be as good as race gas, because you cannot run the same timing as you can on a race gas tune at the same amount of boost. I have a HFS-6 kit waiting to be installed on my car and you can bet I will NEVER run 1.5bar on pump and Meth. I run 17-18psi in the heat right now and that's all I will run even with Meth. I'm using the meth to cool the intake tract so the car will make more power.
Maybe Tony can further this by explaining the difference in timing for a car running 93+Meth and a car running MS109.
If you want to talk about an equiv to race gas, maybe you should look at comparing e85 to MS104/109/etc.
On a side note... Anyone read or hear about any of the de-classified Russian documents about UFO's during the Cold War. Figured I'd throw this thread on a complete 180* turn!

This is my .02. I don't believe they are the "same" in that, you can get a bad tank of pump gas and have a ton of timing retard, whereas, if you buy your fuel in a can, that will "never" happen. There is no doubt that race gas is definitely better, but there are some of us that prefer the economical route, and are willing to sacrifice a few extra ponies, that come with the perfect race gas tune, for a pretty good pump gas tune. Are race gas tunes and Meth tunes the same..In my opinion, NO, but very very close...

it's like this, some people say that having a large shnozz helps sucking in more air during hard exertions
other people say that having a huge mouth is better as more air can go in, along with the bugs
in the end, it is just to different means to the same end

Very good point. Ahhh, the all mighty dollar rears its ugly head again...
That's exactly why I'm trying to become as educated as I can as I take the next step! I don't want to keep redoing my car again and again...
I'm really liking the idea of the A28's. I just wish they were a bit better of a deal to make me jump. I'm having trouble dropping over 5 grand on a pair of the "latest and the greatest" when that will likely change again very shortly...
I do, however, like the idea of water/meth given that I am forced to pump this stuff that CA calls Premium!

this thread went to hell in a handbasket!
Kato, if you have k24s already then the 24/18 is an easier decision I would say. I would have done that if I had k24s, but I had little ole k16s so it was only a little bit more $ really.

Everything is all good Dave, no worries. Some like to state their opinions more than others which is OK. Don't tell me those pics did not make you laugh Now back to your thread, when are you going to post some dyno results? Any updates?
#149
I need to get my tuning completely dialed in and then will dyno and try to run some other local cars.
I'm just shooting for half the power of your best Art

Kato I agree with Flash on this. If you already have K24s it would be a lot less painful to your wallet moving up to K24/18gs.
