93 octane + water/meth vs 117 octane

In case you guys are curious how much a benefit/advantage water/meth gives you when used in conjunction with 93 octane pump fuel, check out the below linked article from MM&FF.

They used the same car, and compared it's power on 93 pump fuel only, with the timing as far advanced as was safe...vs 117 octane with the timing as far advanced as was safe...vs pump fuel with water/meth with the timing as far as was safe. The results may surprise you.

Keep in mind, these results will apply to boost levels as well.

excellent article. The advantage to WI is the low cost of continued use versus the high cost of race fuel. But both are race files.

great article scott, im actualy realy considering using this on my new build. 1, cuase its much cheaper then using race gas all the time, and 2 as an added safety measure even when running moderate boost , cuase even when you 93, they are some crappy gas companys.

I personally love it. If I had a P-car right now, I would definitely run a water/meth setup.

problem is no one outside EPL is doing it. Many still think there is a corrosion issue. But as of yet, I have not seen any solid proof of that issue given anywhere, everytime a discussion comes up.

Todd K. at Proto wants to do one on my buddy Peter's 914rwhp 3.8L car. He may do it this winter.

I don't buy the corrosion stuff. WAY too many Vipers, Vette's, Mustangs, M3's, etc...running it without issue. I had it on my S/C'd 2003 M3. Never had a problem with it.

Is your buddies 914 rwhp on pump or race file

I agree about the corrosion. No conclusive proof. Hell lots of race cars run it, Sti's(boxer motor) run it no problem.

smells so sweet. I bet that on WI they can get more power out of it with less octane fuel just because of the cooling factors. that will be cool to see. no pun intended.

I am thinking of discussing a meth set up w/ Todd. I take that he is game to tune, then, yes?

Great Stuff,

I would also run/try meth on my next boosted car.
