comparison of alternatives to michelin ps2
as is the case with many of you, i have ps2 meats on my car and love them very much. in fact i already have another set waiting to be spooned on when the need arises.
i’ve noticed that there was a thread going around with some praise for the sumitomo htrz iii as an affordable alternative for those so inclined. further, i’ve seen on other forums that there is quite a lot of adulation for the stellar track performance of dunlop’s direzza z1 star spec.
while flipping through the most recent issue of car and driver, i came across an article comparing nine affordable summer tires to our venerable ps2. although the sumitomo was not tested, the direzza did make an outstanding showing.
see for yourself if you haven’t already. enjoy.

I know a lot of people are starting to run the Sumitomo HTR Z3's or w/e they're called (it's 3am, gimme a break lol). I may try these out as they're 1/2 the price of PS2's with marginal performance differences.

put the Z3's on about 1000 mi ago, switched from ps2...very good tire. super quiet and stick about the same as the ps2 in street driving/canyon carving. Mich needs to cut there price by 1/2 if they want to sell me the ps2 ever again.... sumi should make the tire in a 305 and a 315 size (18") btw

I've been looking for a good alternative to the expensive PS2's....but since I run a 315/30/18 on the rears, there aren't very many options open....can anyone give me some links to decent reviews that might include the 315 sizes in high speed tires? I looked at Tire Rack, but when I ran the search by tire sized there were a lot of blank spaces in the 315 categories other than for Michelin and one other.

Do you have 19" rims? I do not see the INVO's in 18" stock sizes or sizes within 4%.
