houston, raising a car on coilovers?

hey guys,

taking the car to alignment shop but my car is too low to get up on the rack. got a couple of questions...

1. how do you raise a car on coilovers LOL

2. if you were to raise the car 1 inch on the perch of the spring, does that equal 1 inch increase in height?

3. where to purchase/borrow/rent a spanner wrench for bilstein coilovers?

tia fellow gents!

If I went to a shop to get an alignment and they could not get my car up on the rack cause it was to low, I would not get my alignment done there.

sweeney186 is infamous around these parts
1- woodblocks-2x4's etc work great-use them quite often in changing from street to track settings
2-depends on where the collar is on the shock & spring rate-but genrerally no

Your car should be aligned at ride height. If you raise and align, it won't be right.

no, but the car has the pp techart front bumper and the lip installed. it doesn't really make it over the hump to my driveway much less up on any automotive rack.

appreciate the helpful replies, im just going to have the front bumper removed for alignment.

Isn't the lip on with 4 fasteners? Just remove the lip.

haha, its probably in my best interest to raise the front at least .5-1" if i wanna keep the front splitter/spoiler.

lose an inch on the car, i just lost 3 inches on my truck, went with 44s instead of 47s for driveability. doesnt help being half asian, whats next? LOL

function, i have no idea. ill have to ask the bodyshop. i havent seen the assembly of the front end.

Tucker,

a 1" on the perch of the spring does not equal a 1" increase in ride height based on my experience. The best way I've found on how to do is spend time working on one corner (adjust perch, put wheels on, drop car on ground and repeat). Once you found that perfect height, count the threads on that coil and do that on the other side.

It slips in between the "fangs" of the bumper and then should be bolted on.
