Intercoolers 996 TT

get a hold of palette. He has a set of awesome b6's that are direct bolt on. I personally ran 10 sec 1/4's with basic 18g set up and those suckers in there. Actualy I think you can score the pkg from him too!! although his is a 20g set up which would kill my set up!! Not that 10.8's and 10.90's are anything to laugh at but ... HE HAS IT FOR SALE NOW!! Scoop it before someone else on board does!!!

Upgrading your stock intercoolers is an often overlooked, yet very sensible mod at any stage of the game.
Because we're firm believers that EVOMS has got the 996 platform dialed in, we suggest upgrading to the EVO Clubsport coolers. The cores are over 30% bigger then the stock units, and they flow up 49% more air. The benefits are numerous....cooler IAT's, quicker boost response. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

The cores are 33% larger then the OEM GT2 cores. The end caps are quite impressive as well. The inlet side has about 200% more volume the then OEM coolers, and the outlet side has about 60% more volume. We're talking créme de la créme here.

Also has you move up the hp ladder you will find stock ICs will not pass high levels of boost well (IOW they are fairly restrictive). So if your ECU is programmed to deliver 1.3 bar of boost at higher rpm the stock IC may be restricting amount of air so that the turbo never can reach that level of boost or has to work harder to get there (which means more heat and lag). I noticed my high rpm boost went up 0.1-0.2 bar in fourth gear and above just by changing ICs.
If your other mods include meth injection you may not benefit much from ICs because meth cools IATs down dramatically by itself. You might only need ICs in that situation to lower boost restriction.
The labor was about 4-5 hours for me.

It would help to know what mods you've done to your car. If you're running a flashed K16 and not in the boost for extended periods of time I'd say you're OK with what you have. Yes, upgraded ic will help with a lot of things but at what point you really need to upgrade depends on a lot of variables. For instance, how you drive, climate, do you race (road or 1/4 mile), boost you're running, type of turbos yadda yadda yadda.
If you do want to upgrade I think the set Palette is selling is very good and a good price. Also, Markski has some top notch intercoolers if you're considering going larger.
If it helps I've been running a Proto K24/18g setup with my stock ic for the last year. I am upgrading to some much larger high end intercoolers soon though.

Don't bother with the GT2 intercoolers. I doubt you will find anyone advocating them unless they are trying to sell them to you.
As others have pointed out, climate and mods are keys to consider. So what do you have and where are you located?
