For warm weather, 5w-50...what I have settled on in FL. It has a red M1 label and is hard to find (Jiffy Lube special ordered it for me...).

In colder climates, I used either 5w-40 or 0w-40. Both were fine in cold weather. The 5w-50 seems to have halved the oil use rate in my particular car... You can get big jugs cheaper of the 5w-40 compared to any other weight we can use...I think it was 5 qts for 21 dollars in a Walmart not long ago. Really (down here...perhaps an error..?).

And, to really annoy the gurus out there, I have mixed these without issue. The car has not blown up yet nor has consumption changed noticeably. Sometimes, you cannot find one weight... I've come to stockpile oil. At least 5w-50.

Per the M1 site, since this is the next question, shelf life is 5y...
