best weight mobile 1 oil

Most "race cars" get rebuilt on a regular schedule, long term wear is not a concern for race cars.
Not that 0w40 is bad or not, it is just that civilians should not copy race cars without considering all the factors.
I'm just saying....

If you speak of the Flat6 thread with Doug H, I think you are mistaken. Kevin recommended the 15W40 for the 993TT (air/oil cooled) not the 996TT. AFAIK, they suggest 0W40, 5W40 and 5W50 depending on environment.

That's what I thought Kevin said too. Seems I remember reading that the oil acts as a hydraulic fluid in the VarioCam actuators and that they are sensitive to the oil's weight. I could be wrong though.

Damn I'm getting old and memory is starting to fail me... It is 5W40TDT oil that I'm using...and was recommended. Although Doug did state that he thought using Shell TDT oil would also work well...

Oil type should be dependent upon driving type, change frequency and the environment.
Since I change my oil every 1500 to 2000 miles and I live in So. Cal where the average temp is 72, I use 0-40W.
One of the most important things is to always ensure that the oil is up to operating temp before exceeding 3400 RPM’s.
The best advice I have herd yet is not to follow race car habits.
