Access Behind Front Bumper

Before I attempt to remove the entire Bumper I thought I would post this question.

My Front Radar Detector unit is not functioning and I am guessing that is has to do with the connection between the front detector and the main unit. I was told that the connector is about 3-4 feet from the detector unit mounted on the front bumper. It is an Escort Passport SR1.

I will try to post a photo of where the cable is going ...but is goes through a hole just above the front bumper air intake to the radiator. Is there a easy way to get access behind this plastic panel that the cable goes through without having to remove the whole bumper? Difficult to explain so I hope the photo is clear enough.

2 torx bits, a philips screwdriver and 15 minutes of your time and the front bumper is off...go for it...
