Clutch Slipping symptoms?

I was on my way back from Gingerman track day about 2 weeks ago , on 6 th gear the rpms shoots forward but the car wasnt moving. Typical of clutch slipping.

Later then i shifted into 5th and 4th ...to test ..no slip occured. I came back that night and ordered new clutch and injectors thinking that if it slips once its done.

But i have been driving my car very hard for 2 weeks now , it hasnt slipped once..But sometimes i feel the car doesnt feel as brutal going from 2nd to 3rd gear wot. The boost is steady 1 bar , everything else is fine.

My question is can a clutch just slip once due to some hot spot after 10 laps at the track and then go away?? Or maybe its slipping but its hard to tell??

I have about 6k hard miles on stock clutch after my turbo upgrade.

Are you kidding? How many total miles are on the clutch ? You have 6k miles on a stock clutch with 18G's? How is that possible? Most stock clutches don't make it off the dyno? Mine woth 45k didn't make it past the K16 flash?

Sounds like your clutch is slipping; A stock clutch with 24/18g wouldn't hold up very long.

Go on the freeway, and go 65mph in 6th gear, gas it and see what happens. I'm assuming the rpms will jump.

I get that same thing from time to time. If im out playing hard... the next day it takes a few pulls and down shifts to get the clutch to start grabbing again. Its happened 2 times. The day after the drag strip... and the day after some heavy street racing.

I have k24/18g and found out today that the clutch is STOCK!! lol.
I hot lapped my car running low 11's trapping 130-131. 10 times in a row. No slippage. Only the day after.

Guys i did it many times, even on slopes uphill downhill everything...even raced a couple of cars..its solid! except for that one time.

Honestly i want it to slip so i can get new clutch and injectors ...but if its fine i would rather postpone the expenses for later.

33k total miles.
7K miles with flash,16g and now 24/18g...
3 track days that's like total of 200 + mins of track time. The previous owner tracked it about 3 full DE's as well.
Endless pulls on highway beating up cars..almost every single day.

Can it just slip once after tracking and go away during hard street driving? weird.

Very interesting! Now we should do some pulls since our cars are evenly matched including the clutch

Are you sure that is the original clutch / or at least a factory clutch? Seems unbelievable...You likely making double the TQ of a stock car?

It will usually slip when cold, when it's going. Try it first thing in the morning - a hard pull in 4th gear from low RPM to red line.

Thanks I will try agian...I drove it this morning 8 am , let it warm up and then hit redline on 4th gear, no slip. I just cant seem to replicate the slipping which occured after track day.

I have the full records for the car and know the owner. Its on fully stock clutch as it came from factory. I am not really surprised , i know Awais O ACE with proto k24/18g,injectors is on stock clutch for the past 1-1/2 years. He street races his car all the time , the owner of racingflix.com.

Also Giggalo on this forum has k24/18g injectors is on stock clutch.

I made 480 tQ on Dynodynamics with a flash , now i am at 570 awTQ on a Dynodynamics. That's more like 600+ mustang awd.

So you are correct its twice the tq.

Is it possible the track day abuse glazed the clutch and as it cooled down the bad spot went away??

Vinod,

My guess is that you heated it up on the track, it slipped on the way home and now it's fine.

BUT, it is only a matter of time. One hundred miles or one thousand is anyone's guess.
