Dealer installed 'boost' kit?

I'm looking at a car and the seller claims the original owner had a factory 'boost' (or performance) kit installed at the dealer, at time of purchase I believe. Factory warranty was honored. I've never heard of anything like this, does anyone know what he's talking about?

Never heard of such a thing. Plus how can a "factory" anything be "dealer installed"?

There is the X50 "turbo power" option, but that is it AFAIK. And this was definitely not dealer installed.

Some dealers will mod the cars (ie flash, etc) and continue to warrant the car- they simply don't tell PCNA about the mods... but change of owners/change of dealers and coverage can change.

Many dealers installed aftermarket flashes.

Interesting, any idea what flashes were available at launch? This is an early 2001 model.

Good question. If it's flashed, the warranty is probably gone.

I never even thought I could ever afford a TT in 01 so I wasn't looking.

Of course if the dealer did it and you have proof, with no disclaimer, who knows?
