to go catless

Don't do it!! You will make your car a poor DD. The fumes are going to kill you and anyone around you. I Put a cat back on b/c when you are stopped at a traffic light its toxic!!!! Not worth it unless you are at the track. Good power gains and faster turbo spool up

Hey I was just watching a Clip on Jay Lenos website where he was reviewing a 08' GT2
http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/...tml?vid=966781
And Jay says (at 6:10 on the count down clock for the video) that "Taking Cats off for more Hp is a myth and would make it run worse"
Now is that just true for specific cars or is it false?

how about purchasing a set of good tires and going with the PCA to build up your race craft?

you can later go to a custom exhaust that is louder if that is what you want, but the extra flow that going catless will give you is not worth the literal headache you will get from it. Besides, you will losse some low end response with straight through. The lack of back pressure gives you more power at the high end, but removes it from the low end. so your drivability is reduced. I actually gained low end power by putting on custom crossed over exhaust with two race cats per side.
here is what I did. I have 100 cell cats, then two pipes that exit at opposite ends and two 9 inch race mufflers on each pipe. Between the race mufflers I installed a H pipe to balance sound and pressure, which reduced drone considerably. This whole system cost me about 3.5k to do. Pricey but it sounds awesome. Sometimes, on cold start up I wish I had an EP loud instead because this is much louder, but once warmed up it isn't bad. The crossover got modified a little after this pic, but same idea.

Excellent work. +1 rep for you. I have been in the process of doing this at my shop (since I have a great welder working with me). Any photos of the mounting bracket that you used to secure the exhaust when installed on the car? Any idea what that weighs?

you won't believe how simple my mounting brackets are they look perfect on the prongs that formerly held the original mounting brackets. Easy on and off this way.
The total exhaust weighs about 24 lbs including the cats, so about half the weight of the stocker. I have Kemira 100 cell cats.

no, but I will try to take some for you this weekend. I'll take pics of the whole setup mounted on the car for you to see.

will pm you the details and some info you will need. Good thing is that it will be a lot lighter than stock so that is easy to mount.
