B&M question....

B&M question....
Mine's been in for a few weeks now. Works very well, I like it much better than stock.
But I have begun to notice that, when in gear, there is some play side to side. I don't recall this with the stock unit, but wonder if something might be lose.
Anyone else with a B&M have side-to-side play in the stick, in gear? If so, how much movement? This is not much, and I don't think anything's wrong, just curious.
Thanks.

I experimented on mine this morning. Mine has slight play as well; does not feel loose at all.

about 4 weeks ago I saw an intercompany memo at my porsche dealer stating that the b&M shifters cause problems with the sync rolls ... dont slow down fast enough. since then i changed mine out to a Porsche short shifter. I had considerable problems with the shifter not leting me get into 2nd gear at full load... about half of the time it went in... but nothing was there. I experienced this for 2 years... had my trans changed( under warranty.. thank god... but the problem continued.
I have no problems now... and i know it was not the trans. It seems that too many of us have had their trannies changed due to this B&M shifter... so porsche got smart and now makes the mechanics report all turbos with b&M shifters.

"I still remember the Blue Marker they sold for CD's. It made a huge difference"
I'm not arguing ... I'm just telling you guys I saw the memo.. i will try to get it and post it.... the B&M shifter had a slightly different angle and was shorter in lenght... Ive put 20k miles on the car with the b&m so I have experience with it. I go to the 1/4 mile track a few times a year(just for fun)... and 40% of the time had problems shifting into 2nd.
Ive had 3 turbos and long list of other exotics... I think my driving abilities i are of no question... My friend who drag races his car...(8.7 @ 156mph- not a porsche)..drove my car and had the same problem at the track. Since I put in the porsche shifter.. for some reason I cant get it to mess up. again.. I'm just sharing my experience.. good or bad...
The memo was at loeber motors in skokie illinois.
Anyone with doubts..... can call loeber motors and ask for Bill, service manager for porsche, and tell him what he showed me.. along with rich the senior tech.
p.s. i will go there and try to get a copy...
