996 Turbo GT3 style wheels, will these fit?

I have been offered a set of wheels for my 996 turbo which are
8 X 18 ET 50 and 12 X 18 ET45 they are the GT3 style wheel, my questions are
1. Are these a direct replacement for the standard wheels without using spacers? I know the rears are 1" wider.
2. What would be the correct tyre sizes to use so there would be no issues with damaging the diff.

Yea, they look to be direct replacement with correct offset. I use the regular GT3 wheels with spacers since the rears are 63mm.

Tire wise, you can go with 225-295 combo or 235-315. Check the actual dimensions of the tires you want since they can vary significantly.

Will 315 tyres fit without rolling the arches or spacers ? I take it that the extra 1" on the rear wheel is to the outside rather than inside?

It will fit. I run 12x18 ET45 rears with 315/30/18, absolutely no mods to the rear wheelwell, and I have had it both low and high in ride height. If these were a full set of GT2 MkII wheels (look like GT3) the fronts should be 8,5x18, just fyi.

These are very rare wheels as they were an option on the low volume GT2.

They will fit the TT just fine with TT spec or GT2 spec tires. You can even run a 7mm spacer in the rear if you roll the fenders. The GT2 comes with rolled rear fenders.

They look great but are HEAVY.

Rare and expensive! (I guess those 2 words usually go together ) I priced out a set when I got my tt and they were $4500+ if I remember correctly. Got a slightly used set of GT3 spec wheels for much cheaper! (but do need to use a fatty spacer and longer bolts in the rear) Much nicer look than turbo twists IMO...

For anyone interested, 997 GT3 and better yet 997 GT3 RS wheels will fit as well with appropriate spacers.

Of course 996 GT2 wheels do not need any spacers.

it sounds like you may have a set of the rare 2004 GT2 offset wheels.

the fronts are the same spec as the 6-GT3 the rears are rare and not easy to find.

you can tell by the obvious width but more noticeable is the depth of the center cap on the rear wheels.
