What does the X73 suspension consist of that is different than the "stock" suspension (996 tt X50).

I like the lowered look of the X73 I have seen but would it be better to just go with PSS10's? I use it as a daily driver and may do a DE here and there...

I understand the major differences are that the X-73 is not height adjustable and not adjustable for firmness (the 1 -10 on the PSS10). I debated this for several weeks before I decided on the PSS10's - I am very happy with the result - lowered about 1.25 inches and the front set at 7, rear set at 10. The up side of the X-73 is that it is a Porsche part. If possible you should try to drive both and then decide.

 

Thanks Ralph...Is it just the springs and dampers that differentiate the standard susp vs. the X73 or are there other components?
I will probalbly go PSS anyways...do you mind me asking what it cost in parts and labor?

 

My X73 came with different springs/shocks/motor mounts.

 

I forgot about the motor mounts - they do come with the X-73 option. My set up cost about $2600 for the parts and then about $1000 for the install and $300 for the alignment. It can be done as a DIY install but you will have to have a pro alignment.

Suspension Made Simple?

 

I just got PSS10's installed on my 996TT and I LOVE them. Hands down the best coilover I've ridden on.. Better than K-Sport (had on Subaru), GReddy Type S's (Have on Nissan), Tein's (ridden in a few cars with them) and the ride quality is perfect. Absorbs bumps very well thanks to the helper springs. Handling I haven't pushed yet, but you can feel the car sitting more flat in turns. Bilstein quality is of the highest as well. I would recommend them to anyone interested in giving their car a great stance and still have amazing ride quality, excellent handling, and superior durability.

With PSS10 you can corner balance but you can also end up with too much camber and toe in the rear if you set them too low. Consider adjustable upper rear control arms, toe steer arms and adjustable drop links. The additional labor is minimal if you're going replace the stock struts with PSS10's and have it aligned anyway.

 

not even in the same league. X73 is just slightly lower and stiffer than factory.

 

i have had the pss10 for a bit now and i cant figure out what the clicking noise is when i am turning at a low low speed, i have been told that it is normal but to be honest, it doesnt sound normal.... any ideas

 

I have no clicking noise at all ..... car is tight and solid. I would take it back to your installer and have him check out all the mounting points.

 

+1 no clicking noise here either. Got mine from Vivid and they are perfect

 

Hey do the PSS10 sit as low as a GT2?

 

they can go lower. I am at GT2 height in the front and 4mm above it in the back and I can drop another 20mm easy.
