Has anyone noticed any noises beyond idle?

My car makes a grinding noise until about 2500 RPM in gear under load.

I only have a "rattling noise", engine running, at idle, with clutch pedal up. As soon as I push the pedal in, noise stops. After that all I hear is the symphony of Porsche

I get a grinding noise about 2000-2300 RPM when under full load in an inappropriately high gear...ie WOT at 2000RPM in 6th gear when going only 25mph.

I know Todd K of Proto asked me if I was using a lwfw. I don't know what is adjusted in the tune but my car never dies even with the ac on. Unless it's operator error lol. The grinding you're refering to is caused by lugging the engine. I can get my car to do it too. This is considered a normal sound. Downshift when your engine is under load to get rid of the noise.

Hmm...it only happens with my LWFW...I don't recall it happening with my dual mass OEM flywheel. If rattle comes from a lighter weight flywheel preventing continued "tension" on the transmission in neutral, why would WOT full load cause noise?

not sure what everyone is saying...to get really smooth low rpm idle (i.e., no chatter) you need some flywheel mass to smooth the power pulses as each piston goes over TDC. as rpms increase, the chatter decreases. Of course the performance upsides to LWFW greatly outweigh the slight negative of sound quality...reducing the moment of inertia from the flywheel has a huge effect on acceleration.

oh yeah and BTW make sure they're balanced...LOL (any flywheel)

I have a UMW LWFW and Tune and the noise is very slight, hardly noticeable and it never dies at idle. So if properly done it should be fine. To me it sounds like a mild Ducati.

Wow! You guys have me all psyched up to get PERFECTLY BALANCED lwfw as well as the appropriare tuning to go with it . . .

Until then, I will have to give William a hard time. . .

Dude, my stock flywheel works GREAT!

Jeez, I crack myself up!
