I'm confused, are you being serious about the ricer stuff?? I'm not a huge fan of the carbon fiber hoods, or rice effect, but I have seen some make it actually look decent...i'll try to take some pics this weekend.

The cut edges flow better with the curvature of the Porsche body lines. It provides a smooth transition from the hood to the front fenders better than a rolled edged would. I stared at the hood and car for a long time and made sure that curves flowed without interruption. I've seen the ridiculously priced Gemballa Hood and i will say that this hood fits better and at 1/4 of its price. The weave pattern on this test hood was very clean. No blemishes in the Resin/clear coat either.

Looks awesome in my opinion. Not sure how it would look on my yellow *** car, but looks great on darker cars or gray cars.

The main/intended reason why people go with Carbon Fiber is for Weight reduction without compromising aerodynamics or structural rigidity( to a degree). As a result, this has associated the look of carbon fiber with sportiness since it is used on most, if not all race cars.

So people do it for looks and/or weight reduction.

When i picked up this hood, it was very light. I would guess somewhere between 16-18 lbs. This is a rather large weight difference from the OEM hood.

With regard to performance on the weight savings... it won't do much unless you go further with the wieght reduction on your vehicle. As a general rule: every 200lbs off of a car gives you approx .1 off of the quarter mile. That may not seem like much but it is equivalent to approx 2 car lengths, which is huge by race enthusiasts.

I'd still like to see them do something w/ the edges, straight cut edges look like crap IMO. But you guys are the ones buying them.

The general consensus is 200lbs because it gives a comfortable/consistent .1 sec off of your average car and driver. Different cars/drivers have different weight/pwr ratios.

100lbs off a lotus elise might be saving it .2 secs, that is if there was anything left on that car.
