Front License Plate

Front License Plate
I finally figured out how to avoid a ticket for driving without my front plate. This morning I was pulled over by a Washington DC policer officer who so busy determining how fast I was going and that I had my radar detector mounted, that he forgot to even notice that I did not have a front plate.
Actually, after pointing out to me that in DC driving with a radar detector (even if not on) is an arrestable offense and driving 15 mph over the limit is a $150 fine - he very politely informed me that the ticket he handed me was just a warning - no fine, no points.
Very lucky.

So the key is to just drive extremely fast and break more rules so they dont realize we are missing the front license plate???! haha thats funny....and yea that is lucky. I personally dont agree with the radar rule, but rules are rules they say...

I got pulled over going south on Democracy just after Falls Road in Potomac two weekends ago. My V1 alerted me to a cop ahead, I slowed down to the speed limit, crested a hill and then see the cop in his car facing me in the dip after the hill. He u-turns and comes rushing up behind me, we pull over. He says "where's your front license plate?" I reach into the footwell behind my seat and pull it from under the carpet and say, "Here it is, I just had the nose of my car resprayed, and wanted to let the paint cure before putting the license bracket back on." He frowns, goes to the front of the car, looks at the bumper (thank God I had just detailed the car), comes back, and says "I'm going to give you a warning." Whew!
I've been riding without a front plate for nearly two years and this is the first time I've been stopped for it. I'm debating whether to put it on again, I just hate how it looks aesthetically.

I got stopped last night in Fairfax, VA for turning right on red (supposedly a sign stating it was illegal...). I didn't have my license with me- the first time I forgot it at home in about a year. I also don't have a front plate installed, and my radar detector was on the passenger-side floor. He didn't mention either of those, but did take his time writing the ticket.
Got a $90 ticket for the illegal turn. Still haven't been stopped for the missing front plate... (knock on wood...) I have it under the passenger seat in case it is needed.

nice teknique! I've been driving in DC with no front plate, virginia tags, and no inspection stickers. Good thing I don't park on the street.

One thing I have learned is to keep my front plate in the car, rather than in the front trunk. Also, like the idea of hood just being resprayed (actually, I have a 3M clear coat) and will use that as an excuse.
But, what is my excuse if I get stopped in my Mini Cooper S, maybe my aftermarket grill just being installed.
Actually, it was a pleasure to be treated with respect by a police officer, even though he must have told me three or four times, he could arrest me for having a fuzz buster, just in view.

I got pulled one time and told the cop that I didn't realize it's required. I showed my plate under the seat and he let me go. I got the front plate installed after that.
I don't want the hassle of getting pulled over or getting a parking ticket when the cops are looking for an excuse to fill his quota. I love looking at cops and knowing they got nothing on me!
Also, holidays are around the corner so you know there will be sobriety tests on the streets soon.

Front plate tickets here are a joke. Just go to a police station and just make it stay there while it is in their parking lot. The cop will come out and see you have the plate on and sign off the ticket. No fine and when he goes inside just throw it in the car and off you go till you get another one.
