Things like this really make me mad. What good is the CPO if they wont cover little things like this? Ugh, I LOVE Porsche's but every once in a while I hear of stories like this that just make me like the company just a little bit less.

Totally agreed! Porsche no doubt awesome have some awesome cars, but their after sales service is just unbearable. Not just warranty seems to cover nothing, the service advisers and the wait it takes for service is just unacceptable. Mercedes of Laguna Niguel is one of the best dealer I ever been to. From sales to their no wait service, not a single thing that I can complain.

This is their response to the BBB complaint:
"Mr. XXX incurred charges for diagnostic work to his 2003 Porsche Turbo that he was made well aware of in advance, should the concern causing his engine warning light not be a warrantable issue. Charges he, by his signature authorized. Indeed, the concern was not found to be warrantable. Failure to secure the filling cap fully as instructed caused a minute air leak to the sealed emission system and subsequent emission failure indication. We are disappointed that Mr. is dissatisfied with the service at Newport Auto Center and advise him that he may choose an alternative servicing facility should he feel the need."

Because they can't find any problems which caused this fault code, they blame me on the gas cap? And advising me to choose an alternative servicing facilty is the way they treat disatisfied customers. GREAT SERVICE!!! For sure I don't go back no matter what in future.

Beware all 6speeders.

I understand your frustration.... Next time read you own code, or simply tell them "read the code, reset and tell me what you find. I'll pay you 1/2 hr."

What is your theory on why this light was set? You say it wasnt the gas cap, so what did cause it?

(I also note that they claim it was a 'minute' leak in their response, but the code was for a 'major' leak.... hmmm...which was it?)

But taking a step back, what is the dealer supposed to do? They could have said "well, it could have been the gas cap- we can reset and see if he comes back" Then you'd declare them incompetent if it wasn't the gas cap, and the light came on in a week. So they pressure test the tank, and test the cap- both pass- so they infer it must be your fault. Once they took this in as a service write up the trajectory was set.

Here is another truth- to them $164 is nothing.... they are prolly pissed off at the BBB complaint since they gave you a break on the bill...."sir, if you cannot afford to service these cars, perhaps another marque would be a better choice" Welcome to Porsche!

Oh, I never use a dealer...

A

PS Might I point out that you have a CPO and, should you find yourself with a blown engine or tranny, you might not want to burn every bridge to PCNA

service write-up says major, their reply to BBB says minute, so I don't know which is true.

My theory on the light is that, the cap "maybe" old and do not seal as tight. The light came on after a pretty good bump on the freeway.

Well, they should have tell me about he fault before going forward with any leak test. I guess i should be more specific next time.

$164 is not the major issue, it is the fact that they have to charge for these checks. And they made it like your car is here with us, do u have a choice not paying it, type situation.

The bridge with this dealership is burnt as is, I am not going back. My CPO is going out soon, so I really don't care them. I will either go to Hergesheimer or GMG in future. Did some work in Hergesheimer before and there are great.
