For the Evo 8 and STI owners!

Come down to the sin fernando valley or pasadena, and I'll give you a ride in my cobra (modded to high hell, $10K, 600rwhp) or one of my friends cobras (BPU $2500 or so, 500rwhp) and you'll never think about an evo or sti again.

I've driven a few cobra's, just helped a friend w/ a whipple upgrade. Great car, just not what i'm interested in right now.

I'm on my second Evo, this on is an '04 RS, they really are great cars. I got flamed on here a while back posting about lighting up a C4S in my last Evo...some people are in denial about the ability of these cars. It doesn't coddle my like my c32, but it is a raw visceral driving machine.
I had an '03 cobra as a toy between the two Evo's and it was silly fast with boltons but the chassis sucked monkey nuts...handling and braking were not up to 500hp.
Between the Evo and STI both a great cars. The STI has a slight edge in straightline perfomance stock for stock (except versus the new 05 evos). he problem with the STI's is the fragile motor...wick it past 16psi and pop goes the weasel.
A full exhaust, computer, and degreed cams will get you low 12's

both cars are amazing! ive driven the sti and i loved every second of it. personally i think the evo's interior is hidious and the 6 spped in the sti is much smoother than the evo's 5. also something to consider is that if u will be driving this every day the evo's ride quality can be a bit harsh and the fact the mitsu voids warinties for autoxing . i hav a wrx and am in love with it but hopefully i will step it up to the sti with in a couple of months. --u just need to drive them both!

I wonder how hard the swap would be. I think my buddy is trading his in for the MR, i'll give it a test drive when he does and report back.
Thanks again for the info guys. HOw many miles have you put on them? I'm planning on holding onto this car for a good 80K+

i'm not sure why people like close ratio 6 speeds so much. its not like it raises your top speed or anything, they just stack the ratios closer. the car has plenty of power to yank through 5 gears, 6 would make you shift WAY too often, i never get trapped between them uncomfortably with the 5 speed.
i have to toss in the same comment about the cobra from an evo stand point. totally different cars. cobra is like taking out a really fast boat on the lake. tons of power, could lift the front up ( with traction i guess, i'm stretching for a boat analogy here ) but turning and stopping aren't going to happen. drag cars get kinda boring after awhile unless you have lots of friends that are into drag cars with you. gotta have somebody to always race.
if you want to feel how serious the evo is, go lift the trunk lid up. it can't weight more than a couple of pounds, even with the huge wing.

I have an old eclipse rather than an evo, but I can vouch for the engine. My car has 105k miles on it, and it runs great. Needs a new clutch, but I do drive it pretty hard. The engine is VERY durable, I've hit the 7500 rpm limiter alot and it just keeps going.
