I think Chad was trying to show that Torque does bend Rods. I see them as being bent also.

They are supposed to be straight right?

Looks like they are ALL bent. At what TQ level did this happen, on what dyno, and what kind of numbers were run at the time this happened?

Yes, I know, that was my feeble attempt at humor Art. The wink at the end was supposed to give it away but thanks for the reply my man, always appreciated.

Any updates on your build?

I think it's safe to say that Turbo Mike does not run that much boost 99% of the time.

These dyno numbers sell turbo kits, but in reality most of these cars are putting down 500-600 WHP in day to day use.

Ask anyone who has built cars exceeding 700 engine HP if they run THAT much boost all the time and if they consider their car to be reliable at these levels. Most will answer NO.

Not trolling or hating just stating facts.

Yes that's true for every car on this forum. We go to the dyno and see what we can put down. We go to Mexico Runs and see who we can beat. We go to drag races and see what time we get. We go to TX Mile and see what MPH we achieve. We go out to dinner and don't boost more than 0.2bar getting there. Turbos have a HP potential rating, we just wanna see someone close to using it all on a stock motor.

They were bent while doing a 0-100 run minutes before the car was to be put on the dyno. At the time the car had a maximum boost of 1.3 bar. The car made maximum hp @ 7400 rpm's.

For prosperity......

They were not only bent but also twisted.

and there are of course a lot more variables that go into bending rods than peak tq numbers....

Chad- what fuel was being used when this happened? What were the HP/Torque numbers on that engine at that time?

800 rwhp is possible provided the tuning and fuel are spot on. it is going to take some ***** and $$$ to try for 900 rwhp. sledgehammer made 850 rwhp on stock internals but this was a 997 turbo. it would probably make 900 rwhp but there is no way i would run it at that power level all the time.

997s are very different from 996s... the head design and the plenum among other things... 2 pumps, bigger injectors are just a few changes....
One cannot compete boost for boost against 997 tt... it is way more efficient...

I'd like to see someone spend the money and put a SPI 800 package on a 996...so far to my knowledge they are all on 997's. Tim replaces everything you mention above (of course leaves the heads stock), so hard to say how close the performance would be, but I bet it would be pretty close.

I agree though that a 997 is cheaper to mod to decent hp levels compared to a 996....

I do know that a 3076r on a 997 with all the goodies is stronger then a 996...

Yea, I hear about them too, but I'd like to see the same dyno/conditions, same tuning and parts....I've seen some hp differences too....but too many variables to draw real conclusions....
