Are KWs worth the extra $ over PSS10s
#46
I understand there is about a 500.00 difference between the two - 2900 for the Kw vs. 2400 for the PSS10's - I drive about 50/50 track/street (15-20 track days per year), so is it worth it to go for the extra 500? Am I going to notice the difference in track performance or street ride? I wouldn't be going below GT2 height.

Fortunately the numbers I sourced match exactly what I have. So I do trust them. Like I said, I think your rep may have the numbers wrong. I have the manual that came with them so I will check it when I get back, but I am guessing that there is another set of B16's that may not have this adjustment. Who knows. All I know is that mine go as low and lower than GT2 safely.

I'm glad this discussion is taking place, because it's valuable information for people to have. It's totally possible that that information I was given is wrong. Maybe someone else could take a few minutes to give them a call and verify?

I wonder if there are two different types of pss10's being sold? maybe a euro style and an american style.

Or it's possible that both you an Tom are right...
What's recommended by the manufacturer and what's achievable are not always the same.

Jack, I am interested in feedback on KW Club Sport....is it too harsh compared to KW V3 for mostly road use? Comfort wise, how does it compare to stock?

rafiki, the Club Sports do ride stiffer compared to the V3's. Comfort wise, everyone loves the KW V3's over stock, no comparison. For mostly street use I would suggest going with the V3's over the Club Sport.
#52
I agree. I think the ClubSports are far too aggressively sprung and valved for street use. For the street and even some track use, go with V3's all day.
#53
I love the way my V3 car handles (like a gocart) but, "comfort"; what are you guys setting them at for the street?
#54
I do recall that when they're initially installed, KW recommends zero-ing out all the settings, and then instructs you how to get to their neutral setting. They recommend making fine-tune adjustments from there.

The Clubsport are designed for clubsport racing. The spring rates are more aggressive, as well as the shock valving. The clubsports also include race top mounts. They are priced accordingly, higher. In my opinion the clubsports are really most appropriate for dedicated track cars.
As far as comparison to PSS10's there isn't really a direct comparison. The KW V3's can't really be directly compared because of the independent compression and rebound adjustments, whereas the PSS10's adjustment is for rebound. Apples to apples, you'd have to compare the KW V2, which has identical specs to the PSS10. However, the V2 is not available for the 996 Turbo.

Can someone add some other info to this?
Install time between each PSS10's and KW v3's
PASM issues?
other components needed I.e. sways and/or droplinks?
And where did you guys get find that pricing of $2400 and $2900?
Thanks,

The Clubsports are actually quite a bit more streetable than I thought. We have those on our camo car and I've driven down cobblestone roads expecting to get fillings knocked out after driving PSS10 and JIC equiped cars, and the clubsports ride smooth as glass. For agressive driving when setup properly they're also well suited as their name implies.

thanks. do they both have external reservoirs, and if so, I was told that with most of those, they need to be maintained, not a self sealed system.

They have external reservoirs, but not quite like a Moton, for example. On the V3's the external reservoir is attached to the lower shock body.
This is a picture from a recent install we did on a 997. You can see the reservoir good in this pic. The install goes exactly the same as any other coilover install.
