Cheap.

Great rotor protection. Wear has been very moderate.

No issues cold. Stop great.

Good for early DE types like me too (I am moving to yellow EBC's soon).

No noise.

Not much dust. Their site says none....um, nope. There is dust, but about half of stock. Seem to wear forever. I have 8 DE days on them and had them on the car for 10k miles and they are probably at 3/4 thickness.

They fit fine.

The EBC types re-did the redstuff a few years back. These are a new compound so old reviews don't really apply. I just tried them because of price and have been happy. Pagids are probably the top track pad, but I am just a DE guy and don't do club racing, so I am happy. SRF fluid is my secret weapon, to be honest.

Mike, do you have a part number for the Mintex pads that fit the front 6 piston 996GT3 calipers? How about the rears?

Thanks Mike and Jeff. Great info on this thread. My installer got me a good price on the mintex and is gonna install them tmrw. Lucky I just caught him before he started putting on the Pagid yellows just now!

Guess I will post those Pagids for sale.

Mike, any opinion on the mintex in wet conditions? I remember airjordan23 commented on them being really inconsistent in the rain. Like flash, I also live in the bay area where rainy season is just around the corner.

Flash, let us know how you feel about the mintex after you get them installed.

Woa gang... I used the Mintex setup with my 4 piston stock setup before I swapped to the 6 piston larger setup. The Mintex setup was perfect for all around street driving, rain or shine, even in a bit of snow the one or two times I got caught in crappy winter conditions... No issues with being able to modulate the pads at all. No issues with threshold braking. No issues driving them on the street. I'm still using them on the rear for street pads!

Larry, I believe Rockauto.com has a cheap pad solution for the GT3 setup. Search on the 2005 GT3 and you'll see a $90 pad.

Heck...Autoparswarehouse has emails that give up to 30% off..so I could get yellows x 4 for about 200 total or less.....best bang for buck. The reds have been super for me in street and basic DE. If I don't like the ebc yellows, I'll look at mintex.

BTW, ebc's coat the pads with something that lets them "match" with the rotor well.....makes break in trivial.

This is all good stuff... I use EBCs on my motorcycles and mountain bikes... Had an issue with their pads coming appart on another car about 15 years ago and quit using them on cars... Must have been an isolated issue... Price sounds VERY good for a street pad, considering the reputation EBC has...

Been running with my new set of Mintex pads on otherwise stock brakes for about 5 days. Seems fine for the street, but my first impression is the initial bite is not as good as the stock Porsche pads. But these are less than half the cost too.

Is this consistent with what you all have experienced?

How do the EBC Reds compare to OEM for street and maybe 6-8 days of DE per year? Or Mintex compared to OEM for that matter.

Did you get the Mintex "red box" (standard) or the Xtreme "silver box" (now called C-TECH)? The C-TECH comes in different formulations for street/track, track, and race. The M1155 formulation are for street/track. Mintex does not have all the different formulations for each pad. Try www.mintex-usa.com or call 847-336-3500

BELOW are what I ordered and they were fine... I've never run the stock pads, as my car had aftermarket pads from the beginning...

Also, for another member commenting on brake dust, it's a reality of being able to stop in very short distances... Ceramic and non-organic pad materials simply don't perform as well.
