Agreed Peter. The SC may very well have been shutting down at that point. Who knows.

To me it looks like something happends 5sec in to the clip, like he missed a gear or something?
#95
even so, I don't see that car gaining any ground anytime after that...
#96
That is very hard to see if we dont have a incar clip. But something clearly happends 5sec into the clip. but thats my opinion, you guys guys can keep trashtalking this guy, you seem to like doing that...

He publically stated that he missed a gear.
I do not doubt it, I just think if the car is/was making the power he talks about
It should walk the Lexus, EASY.
Rob is a decent guy that may have gotten carried away and overconfident about
the capabilities of his car. It certainly has to be fast with the build and the power
it put down. I do not think it is on the same level as Joe's car and that is what
he had been insinuating. Everyone knows I have said enough crazy things in the past, maybe you need to give Rob a break. Rob please get some verified numbers
(60-130 or 0-186) which can easily be done in Houston and we will all (most of us)
support your numbers, whatever they are. To have no verifyable numbers is silly
and pointless.
best,
Marty

I totally see the Turbo taking a quick lead and missing a gear...

Another view @ the 44 second mark http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?...ayer_embedded# s
Seems like he could easily pull that car but missed EVERY shift?
#103
WHo cares, he lost. Whether he mis-shifted or not. At the end of the day it proves one thing, the driver is as important as the power. He can have 2000hp but if you can't drive it or put it to the ground it doesn't matter

Peter, I have to say I'm somewhat in agreement with Marty. I was standing next to Todd who took the video and I have to say it did appear that Rob was reeling him back in. The shut down at the 3/4 mile was just not enough real estate for Rob to fully recover from the "missed gear." Paulie and/or Dennis may be able to offer some perspective as well as they were with us.
One thing I've learned in all the years of 'amateur' racing at the local street drags and the Houston Autobahn is absolutely, positively, never, ever give someone the move.
Which is pretty much what Rob gave the SC when he missed a gear or maybe worse as far as momentum is concerned...I think we all can attest it's hard as hell playin' catch up in a fairly short distance at high speed.
Another 1/4 mile it would have been a different ending to the story...(with Paulie drivin' of course)
j/k Rob
