I tried every angle possible trying to delete the rear wiper when I ordered my '02 Turbo. It just couldn't be done.

I am so paranoid after reading of this that I have never touched the rear wiper when washing the car.

For sure I would have been a victim...like stepping an a rake...

Or the wax and shine OCD-types who freak at the thought of a speck of road spray touching their undercarriage if ever driven in rain . You know the ones - they keep the car pristine for the dealer trade -in where the latter couldn't care less if the bottom of the car looked like it just finished the Paris-Daker rally.

I don't understand

I never had the problem with either of my tt's. I always lift rear wiper to clean the window and never had a scratch from the wiper. I suppprt the wiper and place it down on the window - is that the reason?

I was reading a similar thread here one weekend and could never really understand what people were talking about. Once I heard this 'fix' I finallly understood that the problem is that when the wiper swingarm is raised the wiper blade can rotate about 90% from it's normal position. This places the lower tip of the blade straight down pointing at your 1/4 panel like a dagger. When the swingarm gets bumped down it drags the tip of the blade through a nice arch across the paint.

I immediately zip tied the blade to the swing arm. And for that reason alone iti's been worth reading this board every day.

THANKS
