AMS Billet K16's go 133.3mph at the strip

After our Texas Mile outing I decided to take our 996tt to the drag strip to see what it would do. I got there last night at 8:15 and they were closing at 9, I had to be quick!

Just to clear things up I wasn't going for a low ET, but for MPH to back up the power we're making on our billet K16's. The clutch that's in there right now is very hard to modulate on a launch and I didn't want to break the transmission. So now that I have my excuse out of the way on to the results.

First pass and the only good pass:

11.39 at 133.29 mph!

Basically rolling it off the line and decent shifting but nothing stellar as had some issues with the clutch not disengaging all the way so it was hard to get it into the gears.

Second pass came out very soft (2.3 sec 60') and would not go into 3rd (grind!), coasted for a while, put it back in and went 128.05 mph. Third pass came out harder and ran really good in the first two gears and then ground 3rd pretty hard and took a few tried to get it into 4th.. best 1/8th mile mph though at 105.89 but only 132.97mph due to 4th gear.

After the third pass I could barely get it into first gear from a stop, the clutch just wouldn't disengage. Had to actually put it in gear with the car off and then start it. I think a healthy drivetrain with a good launch might have netted a 134-135mph.

Mods:
Cross 80mm Titanium exhaust
AMS billet K16's
AMS fab'ed test pipes
EPL tune (mix of 93 octane and MS109 gas)
72 lbs/hr injectors
5 bar FPR
Carbonetics triple plate carbon clutch
Everything else is stock down to the paper air filter.

Even with a bad 60ft, a great pass. The MPH at 133mph shows you have a 10 second car there. Hit the 60ft in 1.8 or 1.7s and you are there. Very impressive with those K16's, wow Congrats!!!!
PS. I saw your car at the Mile, Yellow correct?

Wow, very impressive!

Do you guys happen to have a K24 billet upgrade in the works that would plan to achieve similar impressive results, but at a higher level?

I've said it before but I'll say it again -very impressive guys!

I bet she'd break 135 with a set of ICs or a small shot of meth to cool the charge.

Damn that is fast, Makes me feel bad for dropping the money I did on the Tail alpha Gt28's, big injectors, meth, 1.4 bar boost with EPL tune and still being no where near as fast.

Eric,

Could you elaborate (at the time of press release) how these differ from the tried and true K16-16G upgrades? I'm not clear on that, but am clear that this is an all new development and an impressive gain over what those can achieve.

I always assumed I would just go down the K16-16G path when it was time for an upgrade, so certainly want to better understand the difference between both upgrades. Again, I realize the potential is higher with these new AMS billet K16's, just want to know a bit more about the "why". Thanks!

1q2w3e4r is infamous around these parts
That's a great time, there is an easy 10 in it with a better launch. Trap speed doesn't lie though, she makes good power!

did you run some race gas and practice at the track at all?

did you remove all the excess weight you could?

im sure ams removed as much weight as possible and has a pretty competant driver in the seat so that could be the difference weight slows ya down alot.
