Remembering car magazine's hot cars of the Past....

I had a 1990 300 ZX Twin Turbo with some HKS stuff. I agree, it was a great car...a major upgrade from my '87 Mustang GT. Although, I have to give the GT credit. I drove the heck out of that thing and it never missed a beat. It was mildly modified: 4.10 rear, exhaust, etc. I always wanted a GN...I wouldn't mind having one, today. My father had a Pantera, but I was a little too young to really appreciate it (the speed seed was planted young, though ).

I had a dp930 for 6 years. A lot of engine mods, installed a Ruf 5 speed out of a wrecked Gemballa. Mine was a kevlar car, so there were no stress cracks. I visited dp a couple of times. Mine was in one of the magazines, VW/Porsche.

I saw a NASCAR driver's Avalanches for sale on eBay a couple of years ago. One with a detuned engine that he used for daily use, and another with a strong motor and the rearview cameras.
I'll never forget the first Countach I saw when I was a wee lad in the early 70's.
Remember the C&D article on the BBoxer vs. Countach? The return on american horsepower with the early 80's Mustangs? The RUF Yellowbird hitting 211? The first roadtests of the fiberglass bodied 308s? Danny Ongais test driving an early 930?

Most of these are before my time! But, I've always loved the 90's japanese twin-turbos (skyline, supra, RX7, 300ZX) and the 930's as well, saw a slantnose 930 w/ Ruf parts not too long ago-beautiful car.
Friend of mine has a 512 BBi in his collection, still in immaculate condition. I'm not a fan of the 80's Ferraris (except for 288 and F40) but this thing was way ahead of it's time.
