Weight reduction strategies

Making it lighter
Hi
I build a lot of PCA/POC/PBOC Club Race cars out of street cars.
Heres a few of the things we do:
Remove all the Factory carpet and sound deadening material.
Replace it with the lightweight carpet looking material they use for dash mats. (Comes in every color)
Carbon Fiber front & rear bumpers, hood, and rear deck Lid/Wing
Lightweight doors with manually Euro Boxster mirrors (original look)
Lexan side & rear windows in place of glass or
Porsche Motorsports the thin glass from a GT3 Cup car
Remove rear seats, Replace front seats with Sparco Evo seats
Remove the Stereo and A/C complete
Bypass & Remove the heater core
Lighter Wheels and Hoosier tires
Remove the Sunroof and 1 wiper arm
Remove headlights and install covers
Remove all Front + Rear internal bumper supports
Lightweight gel race battery & lightweight starter
Remove front lower console
Remove main console (carpet this area for looks)
Remove all Factory belts (replace with 5/6-point harness)
Gut the trunk
And if you really want to get crazy you could strip down the chassis and acid dip the car

Thanks Bob. Good ideas. Since my car will be street driven, most of these ideas are probably beyond what I'm willing to do. But, still, great ideas (especially if I decide to build a PCA racer once I decide to replace the Bimmer.

All -
I am trying to nail down a few of my remaining weight reduction ideas. Can anyone tell me the weight savings from the following:
1. Replace standard turbo seats with GT3 seats
2. Replace stock rear wing (what is the weight of this wing?)
3. Remove rear seats - how much do they weigh?
4. Pilot sport cups vs. stock Pirellis? (how much do the Pilot's weigh? Pirellis?)
5. Stock wheels - how much do the hollow spoke wheels weigh?
Thanks again, any and all, for all of your help!

Bobc4s - acid dip ... laughed out loud. Good way to start the day. Hell, sand the paint off the car.

I would normally give you all the waits youa re looking for but my car is in limbo. More to come. I am looking for the same answers though.

Just spoke to Gert and he indicated that the aerokit rear spoiler does not reduce weight appreciably. Has anyone does this measurement themselves? I would have thought that the aerowing, being fiberglass, is significantly lighter.

Hey Tim -
Speaking of PSS9s (from the traction thread), are there any weight savings from the PSS9s? I have found weight savings with coil overs in certain prior vehicles...
Basically, I'm trying to get the car down in the low 3200s (possibly high 3100s) dry weight while retaining it's luxury look and feel for two people (meaning rear seats can go if it turns out they are heavy). It appears very do-able... with lighter brakes, wheels, seats, and a few other changes.
P.S. This assumes that weight figures given to me for various mods check out, and that the car, without gas or driver really does weigh 3395.
