Oops! Andrew, Ben is right! I had half used r888's on my car at vir/summit, slipping and sliding all around the track in the upper 90 degree weather, best time I could clock was a 2:12.... Switched to a set of r6's with 3 heat cycles and managed to click off my best time ever of 2:04, with consistent 2:06's, night and day! Usually my toyos were always good down to the cords, but I must have heat cycled them out at Monticello the weekend before!
Then I corded my r6's at the thunderbolt event we were both at lol, I need a tire sponsor! R6's IMO are way too twitchy on the street, Toyo is a much better street tire and boy do they hook well!
Great tire indeed for traction on the street, better then my Hoosier R6's that I left on from a track event and went around on IMO.. ALTHOUGH, on the track, I picked up 6-8 seconds from half used R888;s
Martin,
Are you saying you picked up 6-8 seconds over the hoosiers? Can that be?

Scott, did you see the other thread? I went through 4 sets of 335 rears, -2.8 camber and slammed, no rubbing on or off the track, you are good to go!

The least amount of camber I have run was -2.2, so no you don't have to run 2.8 for it to work, my RUF/OZ racing wheels aren't the most aggressive wheels either offset wise, so you guy's will be fine!

I am running 335/30 R6's on the stock 18x12 wheels at -2.0 camber and I occasionally get a little bit of rubbing on the inside part of the tire when fully loaded.
Upfront are 245/40 on 18x8.5 at -1.0 camber. These however do rub when the steering is 3/4 to fully turned but are fine out on the track.

On the GT2 I doubt it matters what offset or even camber you run (within reason) because of the lack of fender lining on the inside, the fenders are already pre rolled as well.

I run 345 drag radials on the back of the Z that are 28" tall - obviously that will not work on a GT2 but knowing I could get 335's with a little neg camber is encouraging.
On the road course I run 345's on the rear and 315's on the front of the Z. It looks like 245 will be pushing it on the front of the GT2.
Thanks for the info.

I run 255 R888's which are like a 265 up front, there are guy's over on rennlist running 265-275 up front with no problems either, it's all about the offset really, and well some nice camber!

Well, almost.
Currently finishing up the remaining details on the purchase of a car I've wanted for a very long time. Pretty much my dream car. A 996 GT2!!
2003...7k miles.....and..........It's WHITE!!
I'm trying to see if KPG can deliver it during his busy schedule. I can't wait!
I'll post pics when I can.

OMGGGGGGGG!!!! Scott, btw, if you need help with a suspension setup, GMG is the crew!!! They have real world results with their GT2, I was running in circles until I contacted GMG and Lex at Moton
Fabryce, any video clip of the center exit exhaust on the GT2?? I can't imagine how it sounds, your WC-GT setups are SICK!

Thanks, Martin. Considering the size and location of my intercooler piping, I'll probably need to stick with 305/30/19 R888s to prevent rubbing. Thanks for the info, though.
