What TT wives do when we're not looking
My biggest issue so far has been to get her to use the clutch properly and avoid redline. The latter part has been easy since installing the shift light.
We were out last night dining at the beach, had a beautiful drive back windows and sunroof open enjoying the cool breeze; the car was sounding awesome and enjoying the cooler air too. Around 11 we get home she innocently asks if she can pick up my daughter and her friend with the TT. As usual I joke “keep it under 100, the red light flashes you should have changed already”. For a 15 minute round trip, she gets back an hour later (me thinking she’s picked up another ticket, they just took the long way home).
She comes in with the girls all giggling, says something about “I thought Mustang GTs were fast”. Guess they were challenged at every junction by a couple of different cars. My daughter mentioned the wife taking the bait once when some young kid (in a dressed up ‘Stang, hump in the hood ect), made a rude gesture to the girls. He was “destroyed by the flashing light in 2nd”.
It seems pretty girls in the TT get a lot more challenges than I ever do. I'll need to be more cautious in the future, she enjoyed this way too much

I REALLY like shift lights. How hard was your's to install and where did you end up mounting it? Any pics?
And yeah, women get challenged a good bit. My friend's mom growing up had a Hurst edition Oldsmobile. 455cubes blah blah and when she was grumpy kids who challenged her got quite the surprise!

I'm fairly adept with computers and have considered a carputer a few times, even tried setting up the software for one on a spare computer to play and purchased a touch screen but I think it will be awhile before I'm comfortable enoough with the P-car to try and install one! Your system looks VERY nice, would love to know more! Looks like you went with a Windows install, working out well? Looks damned nice!
I also REALLY like that shift light! I used to use a very discreet superbright LED inserted into the pillar on my Supra for shifting and it was awesome. A set of sweep LEDs mounted on the column like that would be terrific! Was this hard to wire? I looked through the mounting manuals and saw nothing for the later model Porsche so I'm stumped. If this isn't too bad to install I may jump on one of them. I have bumped the limiter a time or two, I just can't quite feel where to shift on this car YET. Need more stick time I guess...

This shift light works really well on the Porsche, very easy to wire into the diag port for the ECM (rev signal). I wired the power in from the mobile phone power connector (under stereo/glove box). http://www.ecliptech.com.au/
The carputer works well, I used a HP mini (mounted under the passenger seat). Go onto MP3car.com and do some extended reading to get some motivation. I used a stripped down 8" display in a mount I made, otherwise you need to use a 7" in the standard double DIN mount. I have the MP3, GPS and code reader working. Using the "Road Runner" front end, adapted the Porsche logo to it. Working on the rest of the stereo now to get the MP3 amp'd though. Ending up tearing a lot of the existing stuff in there adding a D/A adapter.

You'll never win that logical disagreement

Ah, I have an HP mini actually - an excellent choice for this aside from the limited resolution. I'm familiar with MP3car.com actually. I was looking to do something like this for my Supra once upon a time before it was murdered. I am sure that things have only improved since then, I will certainly look closely and maybe workup a VM with an install for testing. Since you've got an 03 I'm sure the stereo part is a PITA. I'll have to look at the screen I've got - betting there are better ones around anyway. Will perhaps pick your brain more if I get into it - my thanks for info and sorry to get off track
I assume you used the flat bottomed shift light? $155 and shipping isn't too shabby. I expect I'll be picking one up as it doesn't sound too bad to wire up if you can do it off the diag port. Appreciate the info, sounds like a VERY useful upgrade and I'd been wondering where to put a light too!

Flat bottom shiftlight, you'll like the programming options. Small, bright & very smart. Very useful in 1st & 2nd, haven't seen a limiter since, much faster response than the mechanical gauge.

Here's a close up of the Eliptech shift light...like Danyol stated, this product has excellent programming options and works great!

Yup, on my list for next month. Liking the aluminum rings too! I wish my car had stitching in red or yellow but I don't see that being a terribly easy change ;-) Coveting the CF you've got going on too. I have some and a silver console but I want mooor! Thanks for the pic and the rest in your sig are nice too.
