just bought my first 996tt and brought it home -- now the slippery slope begins
for years while owning a 993 i bought into the whole "last of the real porsche's" and didn't think i would ever considering buying a 996. you know the "the front end looks like a boxter, they were mass produced to save porsche the company, they lacked soul and spirit and just didn't sound the same" blah blah blah. then a month ago all that changed when i was looking into 993tt and started reading the posts on rennlist and here and realized that i should consider buying a 996tt. anyway today i bought it and brought it home. 76k miles that has a clear title, clear carfax, never wrecked, never moded or raced and has never seen snow and still on it's original clutch and clutch accumulator. i paid 35k even.
ok my first question. i want to get some hre wheels. i want to do the dull black centers and polished or brushed lip: what's the difference from the 893, 593 and c93? they all look the same to me. all are ten spokes and modular wheels. i've had kenesis wheels before and i've liked them but the company got sold to lexani and im not sure their product hasn't suffered.

I love 993's, but I think you will be very pleased with this car. Hands down the performance bargain of the century!

An excellent price I agree! Steve, are the sunroof delete cars that desirable? I know you really liked the hardtop Supra and I know the sunroofs popping in Texas was a little freaky but desirable? As it happens I have one!

I am not sure whether the sunroof delete cars are generally considered desirable or not in the Porsche community, but you know me and my hardtop fixation well!
Anything that takes 35-40 pounds off the highest point in the car is ALWAYS a good thing to a performance minded enthusiast.

After 12 years in a 993 I swore I'd never sell, the price of used 996TT became to attractive to resist the call of the turbo HP. Wish I could have keep both of them, but the resale value of the 993 was also too attractive
