Solid Engine Mounts: What do people know and think?
#32
Yea, I did the new, updated 997 tranny mount first. I could tell a difference in that car shifted down easier and more directly. Then I came back from that test run and installed the Wevo mounts. I think the thing to remember is that your suspension effects this equation of what the tranny/motor mounts contribute. As your suspension becomes stiffer/more capable (I have solid, upgraded dog-bones, H&R sways front/back with solid drop-links and PSS9's set to 2 and 3), the more glaring the weaknesses of the 996 tranny mount and stock motor mounts. As Mike has said these cars tend to porpoise, especially when you add horsepower/torque, which requires suspension upgrades, and for the more discriminating among us, better tranny/motor mounts.

Dennis, that was the stock 996 Tranny mount thread. I'm unaware of a way to fill in the motor mount.
OSinspector, the WEVO 997TT mount can be had here:

I replaced my stock engine mounts with RS mounts today. I have 500# front and 700# rear springs. I've only driven around town for a few minutes with the new mounts so I can't comment on how the handling has changed. However, I can say that I have not noticed any increase in engine vibration transmitted.
