It just seems like a lot of miles. I haven't looked at it yet since it's 2 hours away from me. I know maintenance is key to reliability in higher mileage cars. At this time I have no idea how well it was maintained.

1. Condition of the car
2. Price is out of line
3. Mechanical problems

These are the issues that would make me pass on the car.

No history no maintenance on it and the car didn't drive n operate like a 50k car should that would make me not buy it. the price would have to reflect the mileage for resale reasons

The price is around $40k. So, it's low, but is it low enough to justify the mileage?

I dunno.....as parts, particularly motor parts, are what are expensive with these cars, for 40 large I might look at something like an '02 with 20K miles....not much change in the car between 02 and 04.....just my .02...

I've been a day late for every '01 and '02 I've found with low miles. Damn, no luck.

For frame of reference, I bought an 04 996 turbo cab tip with 2yr CPO and 21K miles for 60K last month.

Personally, I'd pass even at $40k? Why?

The older I get, the more I keep resale value in mind. Although it's tempting to say "I don't care...this car is for me, I'll keep it until I die", that's neither practical or likely. So, I like to instead think about things that I do indeed want (color, options, etc.) but work within a framework of thinking about being able to re-sell the car should an emergency arise.

With a 75k mile 996TT, there is obviously going to be a market...but it's a much smaller market than for a car with 20k - 40k miles out there. So, unless you're OK with the risk I'd suggest waiting for a lower mileage example to come up or work on the price even more. Obviously there is going to be a price point where you just cannot resist, but for me I think it would have to be lower than $40k to assume the future liability of having that kind of mileage on the car. Good luck to you!

A good PPI report and a price closer to 30k might be more in line for the high mileage IMO.

this is exactly why i didn't consider higher mileage cars just because if i want to sell it it will be way easier with a car starting at 30k then one at 75k as in the first 3 months of owning my car i put 9k miles on it. i bought it to drive and plan on putting at least 30k more on it in the upcoming years.
