Let me know if you have any questions concerning EPL tuning.
I appreciate the response and I have heard great things about you. Drivability is king with me and I was hopeful that I could use that AMS kit for obvious reasons.

If you do a search on this forum, you will see that there are many EPL cars with very happy owners, myself amongst them. My car is K24/18g + meth and it is very drivable and very enjoyable.

Also, talk to Tony and tell him hard hard or not hard you want to push. There are trade-offs with everything and his "standard" tune is very drivable, but he can tune to your desires.

I just thought I would add that my car runs fantastically with an EPL tune. Perfect driveability and extremely responsive. In fact, I was telling Tony today that I have been thinking of upgrading to larger turbos for the past year or so, but my car is running so perfectly right now and I am enjoying it so much, that I don't want to touch or change anything. I think the EPL 996TT flash is a great product.

I just flashed my car with a new file from Tony today for probably the 15th time since he started emailing me files 3 months ago. I love the remote flashing and Tony is great to work with. My car has run so much better since going to Tony's tune after having a very rough tune from someone else.

How many of the AMS Hybrid kits are on the streets now with the EPL tune? Other than the dude that refuses to reflash his car

Did you talk to Brian @ Eurotech? He can offer you K16 or K24 pakages that are of the highest quality. No wastegate actuator or other tweaks neccesary fwiw.

I've had the polar opposite experience. I sent my my first set of logs to tony exactly 3 months ago (9/5/09 at 5:16 PM) and have not received a single file from him in return. I'm still on the base tune, even though I've sent two sets of logs and he knows there is a serious problem with the file in my car. The tune he sent for my GT2 is actually an X50-based file and is causing my GT2-specific transmission cooler to malfunction (it's controlled by the ECU). The last time I spoke with him, he promised that I'd have a proper GT2 file on Nov. 13. We even discussed how nice the weather would be here that weekend for me to get some good logs with the new file. Since that time, he has not sent the promised file, has not communicated with me in any way, and has failed to return 3 voicemails.

You may remember this thread: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-tony-epl.html where I asked to be called or emailed. He did neither. I, the paying (but apparently second class) customer, had to keep calling the shop until I finally got him on the phone a week later. That's when he promised the proper GT2 file by the 13th.

I've tried to be patient, but I'm now getting jerked around for the second time by EPL. The first time was when he forgot to ship the 5 bar FPR with my injectors and then promised that he'd overnight it. He finally shipped it a week later, and only after and angry email and a number of voicemails.

Tony, WTF?

Jeremy,

You are correct with my delay in getting you a file and I sincerely appologies for what you have experienced. After much research, we did in fact decide to build you a one off file specifically for your car. My original thought was that this would take roughly 12-15 hours. 35+ hours later I am in fact just about finished.

I make no effort to deny this has taken far to long. We unfortunately had to do for your specific file what it took us 2+ years to do for the standard 996tt owners. Im publicity offer you a full refund on the product due to the delay.

The interesting thing is that we have other gt2 owner that are not experiencing similar issues that you are.

I hope that all business owners take note of this post. It is human nature to make mistakes, but it shows your true character in how you deal with your mistakes. You take account of your mistakes AND DO THE RIGHT THING for your customer(s)!! I believe Tony has certainly done the right thing here and sadly in this day and age, you don't see too many businesses that do what Tony just did. Most just want to "pass the buck" and blame someone else, or just try to sweep it under the rug. Kudos to you Tony for admitting fault, and taking action on it in the correct manner.
This is why Tony will be tuning my next P-car as well. My last car ran flawless with his tune, and made great power with minor bolt-ons. Coming from someone who always tunes his own cars, I was skeptical with letting someone else tune my car. Those issues were put to rest after I got his tune put in the car, and the lenghty phone conversations that I had with him.

Tony,

I appreciate the offer of a refund, but all you had to do was explain the delay to me at some point. Call me needy if you will, but I'm not the kind of guy to tolerate being ignored. Especially when I know how well you've taken care of some of my friends here in town. I went with you based on their experiences, yet somehow I feel like I must be in a parallel universe because I'm not getting the same treatment.

PLEASE call me so that we can sort this out.

Jeremy

Tony's tuning is also on my car from a previous owner. He and I have talked on the phone some and like you I am used to tuning my OWN car and really miss the ability to datalog. Tony is awful busy but at some point he will likely be doing more tuning on this car once he shoots me some pricing and I'm ready. Good tuning is hard to find and expensive to do right which is why I did my own. I still wish I could do my own on this car but working with someone who can do it right helps salve not being able to do it myself. One of these days maybe we'll see something closer to PnP for guys like me but in the meantime Tony does good work and I cannot complain about the way my car runs - it drives like OEM and I'm VERY picky.

Agree, but it's not right that it typically takes a public post to get tuners/shops to do the 'right thing'. If left unnoticed, this type of stuff with a normal customer rarely if ever gets fairly resolved. This is not a specific knock on Tony....just a general trend I've seen over and over throughout the aftermarket tuning industry. What counts here is at least Tony values his public reputation.

Thanks for the reminder! Last I looked my car wasn't supported but looks to be now Going to have to figure out the whole logging thing all over again though. I understood it on the AEM but last I looked at the Durametric it was Greek. Anyway, not to hijack this thread but I appreciate the heads up on the update! Glad I have the supported interface too!
