Vividracing Stage 2 versus Switzer L2 for 996TT

1) Vividracing Stage 2 (Spec here), advertised ~540hp

2) Switzer L2 package (Spec here) , advertised ~580hp

Has anyone tried both?
Which one is better --- price is very similar, both are well know companies...?

Thanks in advance!

Looks like Vivid's is exhaust, headers, tune. Switzer's for $1k more gets you hybrid k16 turbo's but no headers. I don't know anything about their k16 hybrids but the power difference is probably legitimate (opposed to one tuner saying you will get 40 more hp over another with basically the same setup).

Personally I would pick whatever tune you like best (plenty of debate on 6speed) then piece together everything else. The package deals don't really save you money as far as I can tell. Just get a tune and go find your favorite exhaust and go from there. Power gains from header's at under 600 hp are dubious at best.

Here is what would be on my list as a first step from stock:

Tune
Exhaust
Intake (or high performance filter for stock box)
diverter valves

Everything else is going to give minimal benefit for the cost.

*edit* or just slap the new AMS kit on there for $4500. Even with your stock exhaust you will blow away a tune/exhaust on the stock k16's. Stock K16's are gonna max out less than 450awhp. With a stock exhaust restricting it the ams kit will surely still make more than that. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...p-capable.html

I don't know of Vivid's product, so can't comment. I do think very highly of the Switzer package FWIW.

In my experience racing 993 GT2 Evos in IMSA - headers usually don't make more horsepower on turbocharged cars - they reduce lag.

You can't compare the quality, support and results between the two packages....SPI is on a different level.

Thanks man! You're right, packages do not save money. But I hope that items in packages are tested and balanced to work together....

i'm not familiar with Vivid's package so i can't say much about it.

I have the L2 from SPI. I'm currently making 550hp to the ground on 93 pump (+ intercoolers) and the best thing is i can get over 600hp with fuel pump, injectors and retune by Tym. If you have any specific questions let me know.

Thanks
Paul

they're K16 hybrids which will spool faster then my current k24/18. I think peak power will be the same (mid 500 range).

We are not comparing apples to apples, dynos to dynos. Good thing is we do business with Switzer so if you like there product, we can supply it too. We do a K16/16G kit which is good to 600HP as well.

Everyone has their own opinions, so do some research on SPI. To my knowledge, you won't find a single dissatisfied customer. There are cheaper kits out there for sure, but the quality, R&D, results, and feedback are inconsistent at best. You get what you pay for. And SPI has a ton of happy international customers.

Good luck.

Vivid racing as well has many international customers that are very happy with their products and the excellent customer service from Dan...there is no way a hybrid k16 to achieve same power levels as a k24/18g...this matter has been discussed in many pages on another thread and still we are waiting for an 60-130 time to see what a billet turbo can do(at 1,5-1,6bar)...in my opinion get a set of k24/18g with just a proper tune and you ll love your car...and when you get used to it,install 6 bigger injectors and pump it up to 1,4bar with good fuel...Trust me...i did it two years before and i would do it again...

Thanks for the comments. Big props to our friends at Switzer for what they offer anyways. They have a great tuning philosophy and we enjoy working with them as well.
