What kind of power are you guys laying down, where you've seen improvements from intercoolers? I doubt a stock car would see tremendous difference, but what about a flashed car? What about K24/18G? What if you started with the intercoolers on the X50? Thanks for any info.

Yeah Marty, I have stock IC's. Todd and I were comparing data at the Mile with our Brockways and we both had 105-110deg intake air temp. He has big intercoolers (Evoms I think?) and I have Meth. Just wondering what BOTH would get me...

The "anything is better than stock" school of mods... the entire CAI and Air Filter Industry is built on this....

You guys may be right in this case... prolly are... just sayin'

Where is the intake air temp measured?? Other cars I see an thermistor integrated into the MAF... but is there a 'post Intercooler temp sensor' on these??

If it is in the MAF then it is probably not helpful...

glad you mentioned this, in the Supra world some of the cheap Chinese cores found on ebay actually performed worse than the stock intercooler. While they excelled in low pressure drop (because they had low internal fin density and no turbulators), they were garbage for efficiency. Based on some of the ridiculous specs I've seen quoted for some popular P-car intercooler "upgrades", this thread doesn't surprise me one bit.

I do not know what the efficiency rating of the EVO units are, however they appear to be nice. Did the EVO units you install have the optional heat dispersant coating? If not they can be made better yet.
no it did not. i didnt think of that can i still get it coated?

Good feedback, Robert. Given that your car is running 700hp or so, it's obvious that the IC's helped at this point.

I am pleased to hear this given that I just threw on some Evo IC's last week finally. While driving around today (hard), I noticed that my Intake air temps stayed relatively flat despite some heat generated in the turbos and motor running uphill in the canyons!

i just dont want to bash any tuner (tuners) or shop (shops) on public forum. please understand

I'm totally with you on this. In fact my intake is off the car and will be on Ebay soon. What puzzles me is the drive to bigger and bigger turbos. The bigger the turbos are, the less driveable your street car becomes, albeit with great freeway power.

Before this round of mods (Upgraded turbos, Clutch, LWFW, ICs and Y-Pipe and boost hoses) I had your exact setup: maxed out K24s -with upgraded wastegates being the key ingredient as I'm sure you know. Let me tell you that the 2860s transform the experience. They significantly outspool the K24s AND deliver a big top end punch in all gears. In retrospect, K24s seem totally outside their comfort zone in the lower gears on this car. Sure you can slip the clutch and launch it, but I'm talking about throttle response when in gear. Using the smallest turbos that can make the power we want adds heat. These boost 1.4 BAR on pump.

I got the ICs because my tuner (who does not sell, and has no way of profiting from intercoolers) strongly recommended them when dyno tuning the car. I'm actually looking forward to get the results once the car is retuned for the intercoolers.
